Best Australian Tiny Home
What an experience. Not only did this exceed every single expectation but beyond that. Kimo’s JR hut (tiny home) is something you dream of. It would have to be the best place I’ve stayed in Australia with 360 degree views, it is the ultimate peaceful city escape. Thank you for having such and we can’t wait to return!

Pleasant views
We visited Kimo Estate and stayed in the Sweeney's Hut. The views are amazing and that is what you are paying for. As previous reviewers have stated there is no electricity outlets so ladies forget the hairdryer and the GHD. The Hut is solar powered. No air conditioner only a very small fan on the wall next to bed.
My advice would be never visit in Summer or the dead of Winter.
Breakfast provisions are supplied in an outdoor camp fridge that is run on a battery.
Tea and coffee / sugar / oil / vinegar are supplied, no tissues or wipes to clean the BBQ.
The Negatives: the hut and its furniture is showing its age now. Hard leather chairs.
Nails protruding out of timber deck in places. So be careful.
Water damage on timber walls
In need of some TLC.
Heated pool: a very strange colour of water in here, did not look very inviting, takes 1 hour approximately to heat up. Whether its bore water??
All cooking on the BBQ has to be done outside, there is a small gas kitchen burner that can be used inside the hut if it was raining.
No inside dining table to sit at, only outside, it was so windy we could not sit outside for dinner/breakfast, so we had to sit on the bed/floor of the hut, extremely uncomfortable.
No wardrobe for hanging up clothing, 2 hooks provided only.
No window coverings at all.
Sweeney's Hut faces the road, so there is traffic noise and at night car headlamps on high beam light up the hut and disturb your sleep.
Tips: Bring your own esky with ice as the fridge that is provided is a little on the small side.
Bring some food with you otherwise its a 20-25min drive into town.
Bring some torches or lamps as the lighting is very dull. They do provide 2 rechargeable lanterns.
Tip: Choose one of the other huts around so that you are not disturbed by noise and headlights.

Windies Cottage - very ‘rustic’
We stayed for a one night stopover on the way North. It was about 40 degrees in Gundagai, so Windies Cottage was extremely hot until the air conditioning units kicked in after a few hours. The cottage was definitely more rustic than the photos suggest - the floor was uneven and creaky, there were large gaps around the doors and we could see sunlight through the floor and tin roof in a few places. I didn’t sleep well as I was worried about snakes and spiders (we had to kill a huge spider shortly after we arrived). The setting was very pretty and the furnishings were lovely, we just weren’t prepared for how old and rustic the cottage was.

Great location, isolated and private, spectacular views, better for spring / autumn.
My partner and I stayed a night at Fergo's hut on Kimo Estate. It is a perfect stopover to break the journey between Melbourne and Sydney, or just even as a getaway. The log cabin is super comfortable, the tub outside perfect for soaking with a view of the farmland below. It is a glass cabin, but there is absolute privacy as there is no one around the area.
The bed faces east, so one is waking up to a gorgeous sunrise. The starry night view is also spectacular, although I would have loved to have a transparent roof so I could have enjoyed the stars from my bed!
We went on a hot day, and there wasnt much wind, which was a bummer for some part of the stay. We were a bit worried about keeping the doors open, as we were afraid there could be creepy crawlies nearby, but apart from a lizard and a couple of flies/ wasps, there was nothing to be worried about.
On the whole, we loved the experience, although in general, I would recommend coming here in the cooler months of spring / autumn.

Over all the stay was amazing, the cute little eco experience is definitely one to try! Super serene and amazing views.
There were just a few little hiccups that sets us off for a rough start - the first being no matches or lighters which are needed to use majority of the appliances, hot tub and fire place. We also tried calling the number provided a few times to see if they were “hiding in a place we hadn’t looked”, however couldn’t get through to anyone (which I get it, it was a Sunday but still) but this was fixed with a trip back to town but did set us back with getting the hot tub to heat up throughout the afternoon. Eventually we got sorted in the end 😊
Overall a fun experience though, would do it again - I’d just make sure I have a few little camping supplies in the car just in case.
