Comfortable accommodation for a pleasant stay

Best stay of our Grape Breton trip! The accommodation is right on the water in the Cheticamp estuary and belongs to the "Harbour" restaurant. Our junior suite on the 1st floor was accessible via a sturdy wooden external staircase directly from the hotel's own parking lot. The cozy living area is equipped with a couch with a table, a refrigerator, a microwave, coffee machine, cups, glasses and coffee/tea and has a television that can receive public Canadian television programs. In the separate, spacious bedroom you can sleep comfortably in a beautiful, large double bed on comfortable mattresses. A small, separate wardrobe, equipped with an ironing board, iron, additional blankets and plenty of coat hangers, offers additional storage space for additional suitcases, jackets and shoes in addition to a suitcase stand. The highlight of the suite, however, is the wonderful bathroom with a Jacuzzi bathtub, in which two people can comfortably take a relaxing bath and which has plenty of shelves and thick, soft, clean bath towels. All rooms are very clean and well-maintained and equipped with very effective extractors and air conditioning, which obviously ensures complete air exchange, because the windows could not be opened despite the mosquito nets. Despite the immediate location on the main road through town, there is little noise from the traffic. We really enjoyed our stay here and can highly recommend the accommodation for a holiday for two.
Many thanks to the operators for the successful concept and the beautiful facilities.
The in-house restaurant with excellent cuisine is also highly recommended, although it closes at 8 p.m. Canadians usually eat dinner at 5 p.m., which is very early for Europeans.

Poor choice - totally inappropriate price

We had booked 2 nights but left the hotel after the first night for the following reasons: 1) Upon our arrival, all the windows were closed and the opening handles were removed. We asked the front desk to obtain at least one handle, which was curtly refused, citing bad weather. After insisting, we obtained a handle to air out the bedroom a bit.
2) Room and bathroom not very clean.
3) Relatively noisy room facing the street. In the description during the booking, it was indicated sea view, but only the very outdated living room offers a partial sea view when standing only.
4) The shower that leads into the bathtub (not very clean) has a very old curtain that stays in place by miracle. The shower cannot be completely turned off and drips all night, which is disturbing when sleeping in the room right next door.
5) The ceiling bulb in the room barely lights up, and the bulb in the sconce above the bed was defective, making it impossible to read in bed.
6) In the living room, a bulb was also defective.
7) The tablecloth on the dining table was dirty.
In summary: False advertising, deplorable price-quality ratio, far too expensive, dirty and outdated place, we do not recommend.

Very "tasty" place.

I was thinking for a long time how to describe my feelings from when I just entered the room in the most understandable way. So, in general imagine that you were looking on Google maps and reviews for just a good and not very expensive diners to eat on the way, and found almost a Michelin star. I'm exaggerating a little, but that's the feeling. I made a reservation for just a suitable room at least to spend the night before the Cabot Trail path, but in fact I could have spent a whole week in this room with great pleasure. It is clean, comfortable, has all the necessary amenities at its level, and there is a working jacuzzi here. A good view of the water from the balcony, if you leave the room. The food here is quite tasty. The only thing I could... criticize... or just wish for myself is that it's a pity that breakfast is not included. Otherwise I would have given all 5 out of 5.

Good, but not great.

Clean but dated . The heat pump was old and noisy and could barely do the job. The WiFi was almost non existent on the top floor. There was no whitener to have a coffee with in the morning. The Best part was the nice servers in the restaurant downstairs

Neglected and overpriced

Oh dear - where do I start. This is the first time I'm giving a one-star-rating. If I don't like a place I'd rather just forget about the experience afterwards, I prefer writing about places I liked - to say thanks to our hosts and tell others about it, so they might enjoy staying there, too. However, in this case I really feel I should warn other travellers. We found this accommodation truly disappointing.
Please note: This review only refers to the accommodation, we did not eat at the restaurant and therefore cannot comment on that.
We often stay in self-contained apartments on our travels, but we haven't seen anything like the "Highlander Suite" before. We left after one night (although we had booked and paid for two nights) because we just wanted to get out of there.
I agree with previous reviews that staff was polite. The apartment is also rather spacious. Unfortunately though, we could not make use of the kitchen - and that's the point why we rented a self-contained apartment, we had intended to cook there. Kettle and pots in the kitchen were in such a state and had obviously not been cleaned properly that we felt we couldn't even boil any water for coffee with that equipment, let alone cook. You often have to do a bit of cleaning in apartments like these and that's not really a major issue - but here we felt it was just pointless, too many utensils simply needed to be replaced.
What was really disturbing was that not a single window could be opened as all the handles had been removed - so you have the choice of sitting there in the sweltering heat or in the draught from the aircon or the fan. We would also have liked to open a window as the smell in the apartment wasn't great.
The harbour view would have been nice, but you can't see much due to the flyscreens (why flyscreens if you cannot open the windows anyway?).
The toilet looked as if it hadn't seen a brush in ages. There were hairs on the towels as well as dust under the bed and grease on the furniture in the living room.
The last straw was when we saw the bed. The bed linen was covered in hairs, the blanket on top of it smelt as if it had not been washed in quite a while and so did the pillows.
All in all, the flat urgently needs cleaning and quite a few things have to be repaired or replaced.
The photos of our apartment on the internet are quite dated - this might have been a nice place once, but today it just needs an overhaul.
I can only advise other travellers to book accommodation elsewhere - this is not value for money.

Very good location
