Homey cottage stay

Such a massive cottage with direct private access to the water! We saw otters and whales in the morning from the sitting room. Super clean and well stocked kitchen and bathrooms, everything was very well kept and clean. Felt very homey stay for a couple days with friends

Nice little accommodation but a bit overrated.

The Seascape Inn is offered as accommodation on a private residential site. In fact, in the five days of our stay there, however, we did not see any owners or similar. There are probably four units in total, of which we had the so-called studio. The review shall cover only that. This is a separate little cottage with its own entrance. Small but quite nice and private - we spent a few nice days here. Actually, there wouldn’t be much to complain about if it wasn’t touted as significantly more valuable than it actually is. At one point it is called “Deluxe Studio” and the guidelines (more on this later) state that the company only markets “High End Properties” and that some rules apply to maintain this standard. And it is precisely these, or rather the way they were formulated, that bothered us. Above all, a long list of what you are not allowed to do is communicated in a strict tone. Check out is at 10:00 (sharp), otherwise it costs 50.00 Can$ fine (per hour). Then comes the attempt at an explanation, but it ultimately does not convince. And if you evaluate it realistically, then it is definitely not a high-end accommodation either. The studio is small, rather smaller than an average North American motel room. The shower room barely has three square meters. The living room is about 25 square meters and houses a queen-size bed and an ageing kitchenette, a table with two chairs, a closet and a sideboard. Everything was in passable condition and clean, but just older. There are quirks and signs of wear everywhere. That's not bad, but it doesn't fit the standard being advertised. The bed is very soft. As soon as one moves, the other swings along. The price is a bit inflated against this background. The location of the entire plot is very good; it is located directly on the water and has its own jetty. One is from there in 10 minutes walk in the center of the place. However, the studio is located in the front area of the property. From there you have no view of the water and you can hear the busy road. Overall, the view from the windows of the studio is modest anyway, because there is a wooden fence to the front (towards the street) at a distance of one meter and the small entrance area to the rear (towards the water). From the large window in the living room you can look at the entrance of the main house. I think that the other units are not only larger, but also have a nice view of the water. The small studio is nice and quite cozy, but not a high-end.

Cozy Studio Suite

We loved our 2 night stay in the studio suite which is a detached building and has all kinds of charm and a cheery atmosphere. Having a kitchenette with fridge and microwave was handy, along with a little table and chairs. Our host JoEllen was friendly and we appreciated all the extras such as the lemon scented diffuser, a pedestal fan, the access to our own barbecue, and the sitting areas outside around our suite. We also enjoyed the lovely gardens and the central shared deck with an ocean view, as well as being able to walk down the stairs and onto the Inn's private dock. We could hear a bit of road noise during the day but we weren't bothered by it, and things were quiet at night. The Seascape Inn was a great place to stay at after driving the Pacific Marine Circle route and exploring areas such as China Beach and the Sooke Potholes. We also appreciated the extra efforts JoEllen is making to keep her guests safe and healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Special Cottage by the Sea

We loved our stay at the Seascape Inn! The owner JoEllen is so gracious and welcoming. It is obvious she cares deeply about her guests’ experience both at her inn and in Sooke in general. The cottage is located down a set of stairs from the owners home but feels very private. We appreciated the well groomed gardens and grounds including a new boat dock. The oceanfront cottage is totally charming! We loved unwinding on the deck with our own hot tub and looking out at the sea. The interior is immaculately clean and the “beachy” decor delightful. In general, the attention to detail is remarkable. Everything you could possibly want or need for a relaxing stay is here. So many special touches! The inn is close to restaurants and amenities but feels like a complete escape. We hope to be back for a longer stay.

Great setting, and amenities

We were 2 couples sharing the two bedroom suite. Our unit didn’t have an ocean view, however we spent most of our time on the deck overlooking the ocean. We were fully welcome to use the well maintained property, deck, and wharf. Property has beach access.
Our unit was well equipped with very comfy beds, quality kitchen and cooking ware. We used our own (clean) hot tub and enjoyed cooking on the Webber gas grill in our private sitting area.
The owners were very welcoming and attentive to our needs. The host was aware of my brother in laws birthday, and to our surprise there was cake, ice cream, and sparkling wine waiting for us. Not to mention the kitchen came with the basics (coffee, tea, sugar, cream, olive oil) and a bathroom with shampoo, conditioner, soap etc.
(I would recommend the cabin unit for a romantic getaway as it has a ocean view.)
I recommend this property.
