Grand House Shaoxing

The Dayu Kaiyuan is located at the foot of Mount Kuaiji, only a 15-minute drive from Shaoxing Railway Station. This Shaoxing hotel houses 95 rooms, suites and villas, ranging in size from 40 (430) to 280 sq m (3,014 sq ft). Each room is uniquely structured. All rooms are furnished with air conditioning, digital TVs, Wi-Fi access and Chinese-style furniture. Most accommodation units open to private or semi-private courtyards with outdoor dining and lounge. There are more than 400 seats and 9 luxurious dining rooms at hotel, catering to various dining requests. 9 different sized dining rooms have nice Ji-pavilion views, providing guests a wide array of Chinese-style delicacies including Cantonese cuisines. For entertainment and relaxation, the hotel has a teahouse, Spa Village, chess/poker room and ancient-style performance stage on offer.

Grand House Shaoxing was an 4000 years old village which had an ancient history, villagers surname Si (姒）were Dayu‘s (大禹)tomb guards for thousands of years.
Now it is as a beautiful hotel with a lot of amenities ! Breakfast had many local specialties were very delicious ! It’s also had a big restaurant and wedding banquet hall ! Room is beautiful as in my photos.
Hotel located only 4 KM from city centre, as taxi only cost less A$7. We stayed 3 nights, enjoyed peaceful country life, also the very busy tourist spot !
I must mention all the stuff in the hotel are so helpful, specially the young man who greeted us on arrival in the rain at night, helping us changed room because I can’t get to upstairs loft !
I hope more tourists visit Shaoxing and stay in this hotel, because it is a totally different experience from big city like Shanghai or Beijing, and you will not regret it.

Ended up staying an extra night and upgraded to a two queen room. It was worth the upgrade having the extra space of a little house on the street.

Surrounding like in previous ages, if you want to live like in former Chinese village style but with comfort and affordable price, that’s the hotel worth to try. Amazing huge park and amenities around. Definitely worth to visit for 1-2 days. Unfortunately no English, but could use my low level small talk chinese . Would go again.

The hotel is located in an ancient village, with small bridges and flowing water, white walls and black tiles, the environment is beautiful and quiet. Watching Shaoxing opera around the bonfire at night feels very old-fashioned. The guest room is an old house, very nostalgic, reminding me of the feeling of living in the attic when I was a child. The floor heating ➕ air conditioner in the room is very warm, and it would be perfect to put a humidifier. The bathroom is a bit cold, hope it can be improved. The waiters He Na, Chen Dong, and Chen Jiawen were enthusiastic and meticulous in their service.

The hotel itself is like a scenic spot, with beautiful environment, good location, convenient transportation, comfortable and hygienic rooms. The staff are very enthusiastic, and they will greet each other on the road. Special thanks to Chen Lidan, the assistant manager of the lobby, for contacting in advance to inquire about the needs, and also helping to upgrade the room, which greatly improved the experience of this itinerary; the buffet breakfast is very rich, the service staff is very enthusiastic, and the meals are delivered quickly. The hygiene is tidy and clean. The little girls Huang Siyi and Lou Lixia are very enthusiastic; the afternoon tea server Jiang Xiaoyan is also very kind, preparing pastries and drinks meticulously and helping to pack them. A perfect holiday experience, next time I should bring the elders and children to come again.
