Stylish hotel & great service...

I came across dss Hotel while on a business trip. I can fully agree with the good reviews. The check-in was totally accommodating, since I arrived shortly after 3 p.m. (and the reception is no longer manned after 3 p.m.) the lady was waiting for me!!! The room was clean, large & bright. The bathroom was modern & clean, with all the utensils a woman needs. I used the parking garage. Was great. Can't judge breakfast because I didn't use it. 100% recommendation.

Great find in Ahlen

Spent one night in Ahlen and had read great reviews of this hotel. Must say, we were very pleased. Arrived after 3:00 pm so their front desk is unattended at that time. They gave us a procedure to open a lock box around the side of the building. Worked beautifully. Once we had a key, we had access to store our bikes in their roomy underground garage with then inside access to get back into the hotel. The room was large with lots of nice windows. Room is very well equipped.

Ten Years After

A return visit to this hotel, ten years on, confirmed our initial favourable impressions: everything worked very smoothly, with friendly reception staff and a large “designer” room with high-end bathroom facilities.
It all seemed then – and it still seems – a bit like a handful of interior décor and bathroom ceramics manufacturers in the area had got together to build a hotel as some kind of “display window” for their products and services; the hotel equivalent, if you like, of a “show apartment” in a new residential development.
None of this takes anything away from the hotel itself, of course. Breakfast was fine, though to our mind (as lazy tourists rather than up-and-at-‘em business types) it ended a bit early. Underground car parking on site, and decent WiFi.
Recommended in 2009, and still recommended.

Hotel is good

The hotel itself is good, rooms are spacious and clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. It's rather overpriced for what it is, though and there is no art in the rooms...
However one thing was very disapointing.
I always book hotels with a restaurant attached. This one is advertising this feature but their restaurant is a 10 min walk away - which for me defeats the point.
So there is no minibar in the room either - well there is one but its empty - and no bar/restaurant on site so you cant even buy some water to take to the room.

Good but boring. Clean but tacky style of rooms

The hotel works well for a business trip, location is boring and so is the hotel. Rooms are clean and well functioning. Wifi free but slow. Breakfast buffet ok with what is needed to get through the day but far from a 4 star hotel breakfast. Decor is tacky 80's style
Will only use for short business trips
