Spontaneous room tour

I was with a boy (11 years old) from a social institution. The boy is very interested in hotels and reviews. Spontaneously, we received a tour of four rooms when we asked for it. The staff was very friendly. In terms of appearance, it could be better/nicer. It is rather simply designed.

Claro! Aqui está o texto somente em inglês para você copiar e colar:

I would like to make a complaint.
The room is extremely small. The photos of the room do not correspond to what was expected.
We were three people, and the third bed was improvised.
The price of the hotel was higher compared to my previous stays.
This is the only hotel I do not recommend. I am very upset and disappointed.
The staff was very polite, but the overall feeling is one of deception.

AVOID THIS HOTEL & BOOKING.COM

Extremely Disappointing Experience with Hotel Agustiner Tor & Booking.com – AVOID!
I had a deeply unpleasant and disappointing experience with both this hotel and Booking.com. If you’re hoping for a stress-free, relaxing holiday, I strongly urge you to avoid this hotel and Booking.com at all costs. Here’s why:
1. Denied Check-In Despite Booking Confirmation
I booked a room via Booking.com on 1st August 2025, and received confirmation around 10:00 PM — while I was already en route to the hotel. Upon arrival at 10:06 PM, I was denied check-in for being six minutes late, even though I had a confirmed booking. This was not only frustrating but completely uncalled for.
2. Poor Visibility of Strict Check-In Time
The hotel cited a strict check-in time of 14:00–22:00, hidden within a drop-down section under “Property Policies” on Booking.com. This vital information was not clearly visible or highlighted during the booking process.
3. Why Accept Bookings Near or After the Cutoff Time?
If check-in is not possible after 10 PM, why is the room even available to book on the platform up to that time? This gives guests a false sense of security and creates avoidable frustration.
4. Critical Information Poorly Displayed
If check-in time is such a crucial policy, it should be prominently displayed before a booking is confirmed — not buried in fine print.
5. Emergency Contact Not Visible
There was a tiny emergency contact sticker placed under the keypad outside the hotel — barely visible. How is a guest supposed to find this in a stressful or urgent situation? It defeats the purpose of having an “emergency” contact.
6. Conflicting Information on Check-In Time
The FAQs section where travellers posted their questions on Booking.com stated that check-in was available “around the clock”, while the actual property policy restricted it to 14:00–22:00. This inconsistency misleads customers. If there’s such a strict cutoff, why isn’t the information aligned across all sections of the listing?
7. Inconsistent Treatment Across Booking Platforms
I was travelling with a group, and a friend booked a room at the same hotel via Hotels.com. They received a proactive phone call from hotel staff, advising them to pick up their room key at a nearby hotel before 10 PM, since there would be no staff at the desk. Why was I not given the same courtesy — especially when my booking was confirmed at the same time?
8. Confusing Room Key Collection Process
The process for collecting a key after 10 PM was overly complicated — involving a walk to a different hotel roughly 3 minutes away. Had I been informed (like my friend), I could have followed the same process. Again, this shows a lack of consistency and communication.
9. Unhelpful & Dismissive Customer Service (Hotel + Booking.com)
I contacted Booking.com, only to be told to resolve the issue directly with the hotel — which defeats the purpose of using a booking platform.
When I called the hotel (on 8th August), the response I received from the staff member was unprofessional and hostile. She said:
• “I can’t help if the customer refused to read the hotel policies.”
• “You should be reading from our website, not on Booking.com.”
• “Your friend should have told me that there is another booking…”
Since when is it a guest’s responsibility to inform hotel staff of other bookings? That’s a basic part of front desk operations and hospitality. The lack of accountability and empathy was appalling.

Final Thoughts:
I’ve travelled extensively and never encountered such poor customer service or misleading booking experience. If hotels like this continue to operate without checks on how their policies are displayed and enforced, guests will continue to be unfairly impacted.
Booking.com should take more responsibility for how critical information is presented and for standing by their customers during disputes like this.

The hotel’s location is very central for the shopping area and the lake, however it didn’t feel part of a noisy location.
The room was comfortable, we were a family of four using the sofa bed. The beds were comfortable, but the room did get pretty warm and the fan provided didn’t make much difference.
We parked in the nearby underground car park which was 5 minutes walk away.
The breakfast was fine. A choice of cereals, bread and meats/cheeses. The dining area felt a pleasant space.
