Catemaco

Our day trip to the Laguna sontecomapan and catemaco turned into two. Exhausted from the day's adventures, we stayed at the Playa Azul hotel on the same road that leads to La Barra/Sontecomapan. What a pleasant surprise on the highway for weary travelers. This hotel right on the Laguna has free WiFi, restaurant on the premises, very knowledgeable staff and the rooms are spacious, and clean. This is not a 5-star hotel but I give it 5-star for the people who operate the property. In addition to the well manicured landscaping, they offer a spa. It's rustic but the services are A+. I've been to high end spas, and this by far, provided me the same type of service for a fraction of the price. We also took advantage of the sweat lodge and that was fantastic, but it's not for everyone, unless you're open-minded since it's a spiritual experience.

Hotel Playa Azul

DON’T STAY HERE. I was covered in bed bug bites after I left. The rooms seemed ok, there was hot water and the grounds were quite nice but the place looked definitely run down. The pool looked clean but the whole area was not very inviting. They cooked breakfast for our group, which was quite good, but they weren’t open for dinner so had to drive into town to another hotel, which seemed much nicer.

avoid if possible

This misleadingly self-entitled resort and spa grand hotel is all but that.
The rooms feel like a 1950's apt, with no hot water and an electrical sort-of heating shower. Only 4 channels on tv and pretty deteriorated pool and terrace. It is a family friendly hotel and as such very noisy.
The restaurant is so-so, the upside is its prices.
Far away from downtown, but has a pier from which you can take a boat to pretty much anywhere.
Id stay somewhere else, the beds were horrible and had to leave after one night having paid two beforehand.t

Hotel en catemaco veracruz

Las habitaciones son limpias, amplias, solo reciben pago en efectivo, el restaurante tiene servicio únicamente de jueves a domingo, no hay establecimientos cercanos (tiendas, lugares para comprar alimentos o bebidas), deberás viajar al pueblo de catemaco para encontrar, es muy bonito y tranquilo para estar con la familia , el personal es muy amable y accesible, permiten acceso a mascotas, la habitaciones de $1,200 cuentan con pantalla y tv de cable y las de $900 con tv de caja y solo manejan 2 canales.
Deberás llevar bastante repelente para mosquitos, tiene acceso a un temazcal independiente, muy bonito y completo donde también son muy amables pero también solo recibe pago en efectivo. También cuenta con acceso a las embarcaciones , que son independientes, para que te lleven a conocer los alrededores de la laguna de catemaco, no olvides al llegar a catemaco visitar a La virgen del Carmen de catemaco en la iglesia del centro.

Decepcionada

Visitamos Catemaco en familia, decidimos quedarnos en el hotel de nuestros recuerdos de la niñez, tristemente nos encontramos un lugar abandonado y sin mantenimiento. Las habitaciones son básicas, sábanas limpias y baño limpio. No hubo luz ni agua caliente eso fue muy incómodo. Encontramos basura en los jardines (como que barren las habitaciones y basura se avienta al jardín) y peor, en el ares de temazcal, que está muy descuidada, encontramos 4 perros, cachorros en condiciones de maltrato!! Esa noche hubo una tormenta y así amarrado a la intemperie uno de ellos! Que horror!!!
Que mal sabor de boca nos deja está lugar. Ojalá hagan algo al respecto. Y demasiada cara la habitación para lo que es. Y la alberca sucia también.
Que lamentable.
