Warm and cozy people and room
The staff is incredibly helpful and kind! The location is great, in walking distance from anything and everything. We stayed at a couples room which was nice, warm, and economical.
There’s hot water during the day, although it seemed they turned it off during the night. You could however just ask them and they’d turn it back on:)
The incredibly nice lady here frequently asked us if we wanted (free) coffee, cake or tea. They also helped us organize tours to the islands that felt less scammy.
I strongly recommend staying here! Just ring the bell outside for a warm reception day or night!

Pretty good hostal
Showers are hot, beds are cozy, staff is helpful. Breakfast is good, espresso and eggs included. No laundry on site, but a close walk to main plaza & restaurants. Pillow cases need to be washed more often and having to be let in and out is tedious.

Modest and delightful stay
Long due review, Visited in Jan 2014: This was a last minute booking done since we changed our plans to stay on the floating island and decided to stay in Puno on Jan 1, '14 and relied on a random agent in Cusco to do our bus/ hotel booking. I remember stepping in the hotel skeptical and was little concerned initially with some miscommunication while trying to communicate in English. The rooms and accommodation matched the description, nothing too fancy but comfortable, safe and sufficient. But what stood out the most is how the staff went out of the way to welcome us as we warmed up. The owner lady, Jessica (sorry if I got your name wrong), helped coordinate our boat visits, helped order the food, pizza and made sure we don't leave the hotel empty stomach without our breakfast :). As we were leaving, she even got us 4 new quilts at the last minute to survive our overnight bus journey. That was a life savor. 4 years later we still remember her for being so thoughtful.

Very unpleasant experience.
This hostel was part of a tour which I booked at the airport in Cusco. Everything was going great until I arrived here. I mean, so many weird things happened here, it would take two pages. Her taxi, didn't show up at the station. So they called him, and he came. The hostel looks nice in the lobby, and the halls, but in the rooms, everything is wrong! First, a little towel that was the bath towel. 1 towel, period. No floor mat, or soap. The windows were old and let in the cold. There was no heat(31F) and the staff all wear heavy jackets, inside. I went to bed with all my clothes on, including my shoes, and 2 jackets, and I never did sleep because it was so cold. But I have no problem roughing it, as long as the staff are nice people, I will not complain. But that is not the case here. The "administradora" Jessica Euribe Puma, held back my driver 1.5 hours. Even though I showed her the official form from the tour guide, that I get picked up at 0800, she insisted calling him at 0930. (this is only a fraction of what happened) But her finest hour came when she informed me if I would pay another $200.00, she will call my driver. Of, course I refused. Do yourself a favor, people, don't stay there.

The coldes experience in my life
First of all, the hotel was booked for us by a travel agent as part of a trip to Lake Titicaca, we stayed only one night.
The hostel itself looks new and located in the city center of Puno, which is good, you can reach everything easily.
The front desk staff does not really speak English, and they are not really helpful.
In the room, what was provided to us, was maximum 5 degrees Celsius, we could not remove our jackets and felt colder than outside, when we asked the reception about it, the lady said 'it is not her problem'. Later on, we asked another front desk staff, and after actually begging for it, we got a small heater for the room for 15 soles extra charge.
First, we did not have hot water also, and the power sockets were off in the room, but after we went and informed the staff about it, they turned them on.
The wifi is really weak and not working properly.
The room was clean, however a piece of soap was left behind from a previous guest in the shower.
I am not sure what was the actual price of our stay since we bought it in a package, so I cannot say if it is worth or not for its price, but for sure I would never stay here again.
