Set 80 metres from the Santiago de Compostela Pilgrimage Route and a 30-minute drive from the city, Hotel Suiza is located just outside the village of Arzúa. It features a restaurant and a garden.

Quaint hotel with such kind and welcoming owners! Great meals!
I stayed here as part of a fairly large Pilgrimage group from the United States. From the beginning, the husband and wife owners were very welcoming. Alberto, the husband, carried all of our luggage to our rooms. The rooms are updated in some ways but also has the feel of a quaint bed and breakfast. Our dinner was the best we had thus far on our pilgrimage, like a home cooked meal, and better than some of the higher end/rated hotels we stayed previously. The dining area is so well kept, nice linens and a beautiful wooden buffet where many of the dishes and glasses were stored...felt like a home dining room but bigger. The breakfast was a generous continental one and we were served our coffee, etc by Alberto and his wife. The coffee was so good! They were so incredibly gracious to us, accommodating in every way and you could tell that their heart and soul is in this place! They were readily available for any of our needs. They served dinner and breakfast with such joy and love. If you want a nicer place to stay than an Albergue, Hostel and other expensive hotels, yet still affordable and close to the Camino, this is where you would want to stay.

Unfortunate experience.
This hotel is the worst I have ever stayed in.
Old building without maintenance.
The worst part was the receptionist, who did not attend to the guests in a courteous manner.
They do not have an elevator or anyone to help carry the luggage.
They had double rooms and gave us a twin room.
I informed that I was gluten intolerant, the receptionist did not notify, and therefore they could not assist me.
Mrs. Rosa is the exception; she is the one who cleans and is responsible for serving breakfast. Very kind.
I do not recommend this hotel; after the longest day of walking, it is not a good option.

Old-fashioned and away from the centre
Hotel just outside the village, next to a gas station, a park and the general road. Old-fashioned facilities, need renovations. When we came back we found the access door locked and we had to phone for someone to come and open us. Apparently, some guests had that key and some didn't.
The laundry Service is very expensive and does not have the modern machinery and various programs that exist elsewhere.
Very friendly staff.

Back to the future.
It is a rather curious hotel located on a fairly busy road, but also on the Camino de Santiago, it is convenient in the morning to join the path. I don't know how old this hotel is, but it looks like it came out of the 1980s. I think it must have been a hotel for commercials or VRP, or for people on the road. Inside, it's really old-fashioned. The common areas are clean and in good condition.
My room was tiny, it was even difficult to open his suitcase. There were several things broken or not working in the room, the hair dryer for example, a torn and more troublesome curtain impossible in the morning around 6:30 am to have hot water, actually cold shower after letting the water run for 15 minutes; however, it is very clean.
The food is not bad and the breakfast a little folksy. A very kind South American lady brings each component one after the other. The few staff present is very kind.

Not fancy but the food is good!
The proprietors were so friendly and accommodating. The dinners served were absolutely the best we consumed while in Arzua. The breakfast was simple but nourishing, and the coffee was SO good!
The building and surrounding property is in dire need of a refresh and remodel. There is no elevator, so stairs could be problematic especially if you have heavy luggage. The bedroom was spacious, included an enclosed balcony, and the twin beds were separated by an end table, which allowed for personal space for roommates who were not closely related. The bathroom was most particularly concerning given the amount of mold and mildew collecting on the walls and the ceiling. One is advised to have their own toiletries as soap was in short supply.
If your stay is short and you get a decent rate, then this place ticks the boxes for adequate shelter and a nourishing meal.
