Great flat in fabulous location

Stayed in top duplex flat C. Loved the location so central, excellent food choices all around we never walked more than 3 - 5 mins to a variety of excellent eating places.
Owners were really helpful & easy to deal with. Flat clean and well equipped. Small terrace at back overlooking the river & bridge. Downside was only having 1 shower. If there are lots of you this would probably be a pain, there are 2 bathrooms but only 1 with a shower the other is a toilet only. One bedroom has large bed overlooking the river. The other has 4 beds & is on the street side so you hear delivery trucks & street cleaners in the morning but you are so central. The lounge also has a sofa bed. The Rambla is pedestrianised so quieter during the day when no traffic allowed. Also 5 flights of steep stairs - no lift...

Amazing location, but...

The location of this apartment is perfect. Right in the centre of Girona, everything is no more than about a 10min walk. The apartment is comfortable and has everything needed for a short stay. Stairs may be a problem for those not fit. The only negative we found during our stay was the noise from the street. The bedroom overlooks La Rambla pedestrian street. The rubbish collection occurs between 11pm-1am, then the street cleaning machines at about 5am and deliveries start at 7am ish. If you're a heavy sleeper this wont be a problem, if not take very good earplugs. Its such a shame because in every other way this apartment is perfect for exploring the lovely city of Girona.

Great location

This is a top spot. Level access to the front door then stairs. Views front and back, great spaces. Steep up to the mezzanine bed on fixed stair-ladder. Shower hot water limited so shower quickly or wait 45 mins for it to reheat. Brilliant restaurants and places to visit and you are right among the shops. We would have appreciated a kettle, but made-do with a saucepan, and a toaster would have been good too. Park in the free parking across the river under the overpass and walk back. That's what the locals do. Highly recommended.

Great location in the old town of Girona

We found this apartment comfortable for our short stay. We loved the location beside the river in the old town of Girona.
The hardest thing was getting our luggage up the 3 high floors of narrow winding stairs.
The owners operate a business on the first floor above the street so when you arrive you ring the door bell at the street door.
The living area is not big but fine for just the 2 of us with the sofa, TV, dining table and kitchen in the one room. The bedroom is down a short hall with the bathroom off that.
The bathroom is not large with a shower with curtain, toilet and basin.
WiFi was strong and reliable.
Would we stay here again, we would for a short stay.

Located in Girona centre, 35kms from coast,

Girona Airport is 15 kms and 17 mins from Girona Old town. It cost €26 in a taxi for three of us one way. It is a small airport, taxis available from outside front door.
You will get dropped at the top of the pedestrianized street. When you get out of the taxi, you will see a tourist office to your left. Go into the tourist office and ask an assistant to call the apartment owner for you. Ask her to meet you at the tourist office. It takes her 10 mins to arrive.
The apartment is tricky to find as the numbers do not go in order. The apartment is located half way down the left hand side of the Libertat street, above a tea shop with a dark green background (not a perfume shop as previous visitors indicated) As that closed down.
You pay in full in cash on arrival, get your passports scanned, sign a contract and get two sets of keys. The nearest apartment to the ground floor is apartment A and has 47 steps from ground floor to apartment entrance located on third floor. The ground floor is a tea shop and first floor is a beauty spa. Customer photos are true and accurate. Wifi in Apartment was free and excellent, as was air conditioning. Two units one in Bedroom and one in Kitchen.
The apartment has one bedroom with a sliding door, a toilet, shower and sink. The second sleeping area/bedroom is on a mezzine and also has a toilet and sink (There is no door) The third sleeping area is in the kitchen on a pull out couch. This is where the six people sleep. There was three adults in our party and we felt any more would have been uncomfortable. There is no oven, kettle or toaster in apartment. Washing machine was great and wide variety of kitchen utensils.
You can empty your bin each evening after 9pm, council workers will drop bins in the street to collect. Closest Bakery is located 1 minute walk from apartment on your right as you exit apartment. Nearest Grocers and supermarket, exit apartment and walk right for three steps, cross the red bridge and walk for 20 meters and supermarket is on your right.
The old town has cobble streets and lots of steps. Would not suit a person who has mobility difficulties. There is lots of churchs (free on sunday's to visit) Arab baths, its one size round bath you look at, you cant actually get in. City Wall walk.
All the shops in the old and new town are boutiques and very expensive (€180 plus for a t-shirt). There is a shopping center in Salt with high street shops (€16 in a taxi each way or get a bus number 2) Shopping center shops are closed on Sunday only food court open.
Closest beach is Lloret de mar, go to bus station and get a ticket for €16 return, Goes every hour, its 45 mins of a journey on the bus, It has shops with nic nacs and places to eat. We also visited Tossa de mar beach, which is located 20 mins from Lorret beach and costs €3.70 each way runs every half hour. You change bus in Lorret to get to tossa. Blades is 25 mins from Lorret, change bus in loreet. Blades had the nicest beach €3.70.
Girona is not a party area, Loret de mar is more suited to lively atmosphere at night/day. There is a market in Girona Tuesday and Saturday. You could see all historical attractions in girona in one day. Day trips from girona to local areas are available (However you can easily do them yourself on public transport for a quarter of the price like we did). You can not " go on a day trip to the Pyrennes, Andorra or France from Girona with a tour company they don't do them". & You cant go on public transport and come back in the same day. That was disappointing. Barcelona is €22.50 return from Girona on High speed train and takes over an hour. They also do a slower train to Barcelona which is 1.5 times slower. Make sure to request faster train.
My recommendation would be to fly into Girona Airport, and get a bus from outside the door which takes 1hr and 20 mins €22 each way and stay in Barcelona it is absolutely amazing. There is so much to see and do. You can also do day trips from Barcelona to the Pyrennes, France and Andorra. As they use the moter-way. I have stayed in both Barcelona and Girona and Barcelona wins hands down.
