A little gem in the mountains
We have just returned from a pleasant weekend at this lovely hotel located in the middle of the mountains. A daily shuttle transports customers to the village. Small, well-kept, authentic. Great breakfast with fresh fruit, homemade bread .. all Top. In any case, the real value of this hotel is the people who work there: professional, helpful and very kind.

Beautiful location, but..
We visited the hotel as a couple in August 2026. The hotel is in a very beautiful location, with a wonderful view. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio does not add up for us in several points (room, dining). The rooms are very small & the balcony, which costs almost 50 francs extra, is big enough for one chair. The bathroom has unfortunately seen better days. We only visited the restaurant for breakfast; it was very good. The "vegi" label is probably for marketing purposes, but it did not bother us. The staff is friendly, however, communication in Swiss German / German is sometimes difficult, which we found a bit of a shame.
Experience in the village (independent of the hotel): Although the village advertises itself as car-free, we found the cars that drove through constantly to be annoying, as there is not much space in the pedestrian zone (almost exclusively other tourists).
In other words, you sit outside for an aperitif and every few seconds/minutes cars with EU license plates drive closely past you & you feel crowded as a pedestrian in the so-called car-free village.
All in all, we found the hotel okay, but would not visit it again. Because there are cheaper & still nicely located alternatives for us that offer more.

A place of peace
A wonderful place of silence, with excellent vegetarian cuisine (I was a bit skeptical at first and was very positively surprised), very nice staff, very beautiful and clean rooms, and a magnificent environment; shuttle bus can be booked free of charge; we enjoyed the short vacation very much and can highly recommend the hotel in terms of price-performance as well.

Nice, but not inexpensive
As spontaneous bookers on the hotel's homepage, we were "rewarded" with a price of CHF 185 per person per night for bed and breakfast. In return: Tiny room with an aging bathroom (rattling shower, toilet cistern still made of porcelain), all in all, at most a B&B standard. Breakfast very good; location: A converted farmhouse in the Engadine style, beautifully situated in the quiet, low-traffic Fex Valley. Accessibility good, thanks to a very reliable hotel shuttle from Sils. Vegetarian food is good for people who appreciate the attempt at "haute cuisine végétarienne" with small portions. The service was very friendly, unfortunately sometimes with some communication difficulties in German. Two stars due to insufficient price-performance ratio.

Pleasant tailwind
Before 2015, we spent winter holidays at the Chesa several times. Due to numerous changes in ownership, concepts, and management, the price-performance ratio was no longer satisfactory, and we looked for other solutions in the valley.
This year, we booked an extended weekend at the Chesa and were pleased to find that, thanks to new management and a new kitchen team, things are looking up again.
Thanks to the good and competent advice from the host Paul during the phone registration and throughout our stay, as well as the flexible response to our wishes, we felt welcome immediately. All the other people we came into contact with in service or around the house were open and friendly as well. When one treats oneself to a break, the expectations for the food play a significant role—especially when a vegetarian cuisine is explicitly advertised. To our delight, it was indeed the case that we found gourmet, imaginative dinner menus and a rich, seasonal breakfast buffet. Thank you very much, we would love to come back!
