A Gem in the laidback of Tainan

It's not even on mainland Tainan. but if you want some peace and serenity Mao Wu is the place to go. It's on a little island where the taxi has to drive through a bridge and come to this place and from there you can either stay in the hostel which is a design by a very famous Taiwan Architect or you go rent a bike and go cycle ard. The best service I got from the hostel is that their staff would actually buy you a famous breakfast from Tainan and serve you in the morning!

Architectural gem in a sleepy backyard

A special inn designed and built by the architect owner Mao who studied under a famous Japanese architect. Specialising in concrete, metal and glass, makes this inn very modern yet with the warmer tones of natural indigenous wood. Its on the adjoining island to Tainan, which makes the location secluded and quiet, away from the bustling town. There really isn't much to see, except for a beach front area that even locals don't care to visit. Its the best inn Tainan has to offer; a good place to rest and read a good book. The bedrooms are very comfortable except the room we were in did not have any window to the outside. There is a loft area with windows but you have to climb some stairs to get to it. Breakfast is included and well made with care, though simple.

隠れ家高級ホテル

車がないといけない場所にあります。安平区の海の近くで静かな村の中にあります。モダンなコンクリート打ちっぱなしのホテルで、使っている建築材料はよいものばかりとおもいます。また、古い日本の風情を出す工夫もあります。１Fには部屋が二つ、いつもBoseのプレーヤーから静かな音楽がかかっています。２Fにはロフト式の部屋が三つあります。３Fにはらせん階段でのぼりますが、そこは茶室になっています。４Fはエクストラベッドを敷くスペースで、家族で泊まるにはよいつくりです。お風呂にはAesopのアメニティがおいてあります。テレビはケーブルテレビでNHKやCNNなど英語放送も映ります。朝食はとなりの別宅で檜一枚板のテーブルで大勢でいただきます。牡蠣と揚げパンをいれたおかゆ、碗果という台湾特有の朝食です。自転車を借りられるので、朝7時ころに島を一周しました。ジョギングしている人たちや朝早くから仕事をしている人たちとあいさつします。海辺の砂浜には隼を訓練している人に会いました。近くに住んでいるそうです。この建物の横にはギャラリーがあり、ちょうど信三郎帆布の商品の展示、京都の開化堂の茶筒の展示販売をしていました。静かにゆっくり過ごすには最適な場所だとおもいます。
