Perfect Stay for Solo Travelers !

I had such a great experience at the Mom Hostel ! The staff is friendly and helpful, always ready to give tips about the area or help with anything I needed. The atmosphere was social — perfect for meeting people. Everything was clean and well-kept, and the location was super convenient. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to other travelers!

Not good, but I don’t know if there are many budget options to choose from in Darwin

Quite poorly maintained and dirty rooms. This is very much a party hostel which is fine if that’s what you’re after.
The pool has tissues and stuff floating in it. My room had dark dirty stains on the floor and I don’t think it had been cleaned for a long time.
When I arrived there was no one on reception although they advertise that they have a 24/7 manned reception. I kept calling the number listed and no one picked up. Waited a good 10 mins for someone to show up. When the guy showed up with a vape in his hand he said “yeah I saw the calls”. So he admitted to ignoring them.
They had a QR code that didn’t work to show me the house rules. I told them some kind of free trial had expired. They just shrugged.
Only the bottom bunks have any privacy curtain and one side is exposed.
There’s a fire alarm that keeps going off all night from people vaping. So I didn’t sleep well.
For $55 per night I expected more.
The girls at the coffee shop attached to the hostel were quite rude to me. When I bought a coffee I clearly said that I wanted almond milk. When my order was incorrect the Irish girl who served me said “you DID NOT say almond”. I told her that I did and she buckled down implying I was lying. Then she told me that I HAD to pay extra. I said that was fine but she was implying I was going to run away without paying. The team overall were unfriendly. It was just the confrontational style.
I don’t expect much from hostel staff, but no one I spoke to was helpful or even professional.
I also had a girl bring back her lesbian girlfriend into the room who was not booked in my room for some action at night. When I told reception the girl didn’t really care much. She was just like “oh well”.
I’ve stayed in a lot of hostels but this one was particularly bad.

Thieves

This place took my friends money then left her on the street when exhausted from delayed flights. Then took more money from her account. Dodgey as they come.

Very bad

I was very disappointed with the stay at MOM Darwin Hostel. The kitchen is a mess: they stole my food several times and nobody controls anything. The rooms were dirty and badly maintained, and the temperature inside was absurd, too cold compared to outside, to the point that I got sick during the stay. Also I noticed extra charges not expected on my booking and they would not refund me. Really poor management.

Our shared kitchen is professionally cleaned twice daily between 2:00–4:00 pm and 10:00 am–12:00 pm. These times are scheduled to avoid the busiest periods when most guests are preparing for work or returning in the evening.
Our air conditioning is set to a temperature suitable for Darwin's tropical climate and humidity. We understand that comfort preferences vary, and complimentary blankets are always available from reception for guests who find the rooms too cool.

Minimal Hostel for 1 night stay

stayed here for a night as we were meeting our group in the morning. Hostel was very very basic and common spaces were clean enough but could use some additional work. Had a private double room. Air conditioner cannot be changed and it was freezing cold all night as a result, but they will give you extra blankets. Room was clean. They did provide towels. Cost seemed a bit steep for what it was, but was fine for one night. Hostel also seemed quite safe - had a bell system for late evening where front desk would buzz you in.
