Convincing with charm and good location

We had booked our room 54 for several days as a family. We felt very comfortable, especially the location of the hotel was very good for our activities. We also appreciated the special charm of the whole house.

Terrible

We stayed at this property for only one night, July 16, despite having booked from July 16 to 19. I must premise that the hotel is a cute hotel, which reflects a retro air, with a very beautiful vintage elevator and truly kind staff, BUT which unfortunately deceives customers with an omission both on the site and on the room sales channels because upon arrival we realized that there was no air conditioning in the room. We had booked a Superior Suite, even paying a hefty amount (more than 900 euros) to find ourselves in a room where objectively there could have been 28 degrees. In a room with carpet, wood, and heavy blackout curtains, the heat could not go away with two floor fans that were also noisy... it was useless to open the windows because the heat from outside was greater... the only cool room was the bathroom. The travel agency, guilty of not having informed itself, tried in vain to change the hotel with a refund, I myself spoke with the reception which obviously stonewalled regarding the idea of letting us stay only one night and refunding us because, precisely, they are not clear regarding the fact that they do not have air conditioners on the internet... one thing they gave me was another fan. At night we must have had 30 degrees in the room. We did not sleep. We were sweating while sitting still. The children did not close their eyes until 4. In short, the next day we ran away to another hotel... and so we paid for two properties... in a few words, do not go there in the summer. In winter it will certainly be cozy...

Very close to major grocery stores and restaurants. Also, it was close to the Cadet metro station, which was very handy.

Great location

Location is great, you can walk to a lot of interesting areas and you have a few metro stations near, you can also walk from Gare du Nord. The hotel has character, with cool decor and the staff was nice.
The decor in our room was quirky and we liked it, it was also quite a decent size.
As an old building, noise insulation wasn't the best, so if you're neighbours arrive late you may hear them, but not much the hotel can do here. The lift is tiny, as mentioned, if you have a big suitcase it may be an issue.
We liked the area a lot, with a good bistro and boulangerie in the same street.
Two easy suggestions for improvement: a shower basket/soap holder and an extra pair of pillows, I think those are easy to offer and would improve comfort.
I would visit again.
