Hiking tour around Munnar

We did not stay at this hotel. The hotel also offers half-day and full-day hiking tours around Munnar. We opted for the full-day tour. Our guide was Felix. We left the hotel on time. We hiked straight up through the tea plantation to the highest point. Once we got to the top, Felix served us a breakfast of omelette, toast and fresh fruit. The view was beautiful! Felix left us alone during breakfast to explore the rest of the way. After that, there was a very steep and slippery descent through tall grass. It was a very challenging descent because you couldn't always see where you were stepping. The rest of the way, however, was on a paved path. It was a beautiful hiking route with beautiful viewpoints. It was also nice that Felix took us to another viewpoint for lunch and served us bread with a delicious potato curry.
Felix's behavior as a guide was professional at all times. When we had breakfast, he left us alone to explore the rest of the way. He actually spotted a dangerous water buffalo and we took a long break (about 30 minutes) until the danger had passed. In addition, one participant was so ill that he had to abandon the hike. He looked after the person until then and got a tuk-tuk to take the participant to the hotel.
We had a lot of fun and can recommend the hiking tour.

Great little place with very helpful staff !

Green view Munnar
This place was super cheap, and a great meeting point , the staff are very very informative and they run some great tours from here in fact they helped us tremendously by offering lots of informative advice for our onwards travels .
The reception area is very cute and the rooms have everything you need . There’s a common area rooftop which is really quirky and has good views over Munnar .
We met lots of interesting travellers here and shared information. Plus definitely do the tea plantation hike it’s worth getting up for, we also did a tour the next day organised by the hotel and saw lots of wild elephants.
Green view is great base in Munnar

Good Inn, nice climate, unimpressive town

Green View Holiday Inn is a good choice accommodation for those wanting to locate in Munnar itself. The staff are helpful and friendly, the rooms clean, the tariff quite reasonable. I can definitely recommend Green View.
Nonetheless, one wonders why people want to go to Munnar in the first place, seeing as it is a famous hill station. If you want to escape the crowds and heat of the lowlands, see a sea of camellia (tea) plants covering every last bit of landscape, look out over the vast valleys through the haze, and even see an elephant or two, then this is a great place. Probably suited more to domestic tourism.
But if you are foreigner interested in Indian culture, Munnar is not the best place to look for that. You can't even go for a short walk from the Inn without having to constantly dodge rickshaws, motorbikes trucks and buses. Eating is restricted options, and the town proper is one of the least interesting Indian towns I have seen.
Having said that, the staff at Green View are helpful in guiding you to where you can experience the more acclaimed sites in this area, so definitely seek their advice.

Insightful full and half day trek!

We did a fabulous full day trek with Ganesh through the tea plantations and up to some wonderful view points. Ganesh was extremely knowledgable about the plantations and provided us with lots of information about other spices and plants that grew in the area. We enjoyed our full day trek so much that we decided to book a half day trek for the next day! The price was very reasonable and the food was just what we needed!

Amazing half day trek with Ganesh

Great trek experience with Ganesh for a fair price. Views were amazing and our guide Ganesh explained every plants and answered all our questions. We got observe the workers in the plantations. Highly recommended.
