Getting to know Puerto Octay

Excellent double room with private bathroom. Good ventilation and hygiene. Well located, very good breakfast. With parking. Well preserved building. Cordial attention.

Good place to stay but with points to improve

We stayed one night and the next day we had breakfast in the cafeteria, about these:
- Accommodation: The piece was clean and comfortable, but small, especially the bathroom that with the tilt of the ceiling was even smaller. It is appreciated that you have parking to leave the car at night. The only “but” was that there were few people, so to check in, ask a question, and get the car out so we could leave we had to wait for someone to pass by to help us.
Breakfast: Breakfast was rich and had variety of desserts, good bread and things to throw at it.
The problem was that it was not clear which things were included and which were not. There were desserts that were in the separate display case and the attendant did not offer it as breakfast, while others if they gave them to you as an option, giving the impression that the separate ones were paid separately, but then you saw that to other guests if they were offered as part of the breakfast of the accommodation. The same thing happened with bean coffee, when you arrive at breakfast you are offered only instant coffee and tea, however, after a while other guests were taken coffee prepared in espresso machine. When we ask, they tell us it was our fault for not asking.

A disappointment, your Triwe Cafeteria

We went to the cafeteria, it seemed like a picturesque place, we thought they would have good kuchen, cakes, as elsewhere and as is typical in the area, but no, a total disappointment, first the bad coffee, if they are going to offer a menu with coffee varieties, it is essential to have a good "Coffee Barista", the cold and pure foam coffee, the other cold and foamless coffee, the kuchen, cake and sandwich, a disappointment, poor value for money quality, the kuchen never arrived until after the coffee had finished , a very small piece, as well as the cake, for the same price in Frutillar one eats some delicious kuchen in many places, much incoordination to attend, one attends, then disappears, first attended a young woman, who at least was friendly and well presented, then attended a young man, of the cafes, with poor personal presentation, as if he put on the first thing he found. Anyway, never come back. Puerto Octay being a tourist town, they have to be more concerned in what they offer, in the end we left totally disappointed.

Never to return

We went as a family to have eleven, they gave us cheap tea, a kuchen and a lemon pie made with the same crumbly dough; The ice cream seemed homemade, and very bad tasting.
It is impressive that the people who serve are not very neat with their clothing.
A small place is impressive, with few options to improve, and what's more, when paying, the owner gets upset with the lady who took our order, taking the order out of her hands.
My husband ended up in the hospital that night due to an upset stomach, and my grandmother doesn't want to go out to eat in Puerto Octay anymore.

Excellent choice

Stayed one night here at the cosy Triwe hostal. Our hosts Claudia and Isabelle are very warm-hearted and the hospitality is unbeaten. Even after arriving late we enjoyed a very nice meal. They give us all kinds of information that was very useful in traveling in Patagonia. One of our best experiences in Chili.
