Hôtel de l'Impossible
Hôtel de lImpossible is set 1.70km from the centre of Briançon and near the Serre Chevalier 1200 ski slopes. It offers rooms with free WiFi internet access. The guest rooms at lImpossible have a traditional chalet-style décor and each has a private bathroom. Some also have a balcony. A buffet breakfast is served every morning at the property. Hôtel de lImpossible is between the Ecrin and Vanoise national parks, and is in close proximity to the famous Cité Vauban. Free private parking is available on site. Be careful... this is not a HOTEL but a hostel..
know the difference..
And quite frankly the place is GREAT and the little family that runs it is very friendly.
I will come back without hesitation

it's a very charming staff and the hotel is very clean, it doesn't change anything

Non-existing service or client service
The hotel boosts several parking spots off the street so there are plenty of options for cars and motorcycles alike.
When we arrived there was no other staff than the person at reception. He greeted us seemingly unfazed by our arrival, checked our booking and gave us the keys to our rooms, located on two different floors, despite our request to be located near each other. We were told the hotel is full and there are no such options. Later a group of French bikers arrived. 3 have booked a room and another one just came without the booking. The receptionist checked what he could do and provided him with a single room (in a hotel we were told was full), at a more preferential rate than the pre-booked rooms and see wonder: they could get their two rooms right next to each other.
Although on the booking sites they state dinner is available and right at reception the daily menu is displayed, we were told there is no restaurant. Hence we were told to go to town and received a key for the night entrance, to be used after 2200.
We came back from dinner just after 1930 and wanted to get a beer, only to find out from another guest that the receptionist had some urgent things to do and left, closing down the whole establishment. No bar, nothing.
Now the rooms: they are basic, but clean. Enough for a good sleep. Pillows and mattress are comfy and the rooms quiet. The bathroom is very basic and could no with a renovation, but it was also clean. No issues with cold or hot water.
View from the room straight up is basic but looking out to the side, one can see the sublime mountains.
The bar area has not been tidied or cleaned since pre-winter I guess and wi-fi is only available in the rooms or the hotel building.
Breakfast is the most basic we had on our 10 day trip and selection ratios are small, so make sure you go first otherwise no luck. The croissants were good though. Hot and tasty.
The same receptionist runs the breakfast service as well as the check-out/invoicing and his face and tone clearly express his discontent.
Overall, there are better options in the area. If you are looking for just a bed, then this can be the place for you, though the price reflects more than just a simple hostel type thing.

Nice friendly host, good room.
The hotel was further away from the City Centre than we expected and we hadn't ordered dinner at the hotel. The host was nice, and since we were on bikes, said she happy for us to buy some cold food at local supermarket and eat on balcony. Very pleasant evening.
