Great hotel
On arrival at the hotel I was met by the owner who is just an absolute gentleman and so friendly and welcoming, with the added bonus of speaking perfect English. Win is a delight and I was given a room on the first floor which was immaculate, like the rest of the hotel. I had a single room, which was light and airy and had a coffee machine and complimentary bottle of water. Tv and free wifi and a very comfortable bed. There was a shower with toiletries provided and a hairdryer in the bathroom. Should you have mobility issues there is a lift to all floors. I had booked in for only 2 nights and had breakfast which was served by Rhona, another gem in the hotel. Rhona pointed out some historical points of Goch for me which I investigated later that day. Breakfast is buffet with the usual platter of meats/cheese etc and I had the fantastic scrambled egg with a pot of coffee and orange juice. There is an outside seating area which gets the sun during the day and is perfect for sitting with a book just relaxing and at night it is well lit and very pleasant also. Goch is a lovely area to visit and I would recommend exploring around the back streets and you will find some hidden gems and lovely architecture. The shopping area is near the hotel and in my experience almost everyone speaks English so there are no problems trying to purchase anything. Very nice area to wander and have a coffee. Goch train station is a short walk away from the hotel and my tip would be if flying to Weeze airport would be to take the SW1 bus from the airport to Weeze train station and it is only 3 euros fare for that then at Weeze station buy another 3 euro ticket to Goch (one stop along). This is the fastest way to get too and from the airport and the cheapest I found. This is a great hotel and I will certainly return at a later date as 2 days was not enough. Cannot recommend this highly enough.

Charming hotel
Wilfred was very helpful with any accommodations you need including taxi service calls and speaks great English. This hotel is quite charming. You get actual key access to the grounds. The rooms are extremely clean. Toiletries are included and so is a complimentary bottle of sparkling water. In the morning you receive free breakfast and Rona is wonderful. She provided great service and also speaks great English and German. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would come back again. This hotel is located near center of town which is near lots of restaurants and stores.

Enjoyable stay for business
I stayed in Goch for two nights on business. I was pleased with the personal service upon arrival and throughout my stay. The room was very comfortable and well equipped. The WiFi was excellent thought my stay. The location near the shopping district made it easy to walk to dining and stores. I also took advantage of the free underground locked parking.

Very friendly family hotel
We came to canoe on the Niers river.
The hotel is in town, but easy to find a parking spot close. Friendly welcome, clean room, lots of space, also inside the cupboard.
We had a family room for four, it was large and had high ceilings.
When we did not manage to switch on the ventilator, the nice owner came over and helped, even after the reception had closed.
Breakfast is in a very nice room with fresh food, fruit salad made from fruit, not out of some can, and cut into pieces, not the huge chunks you often get.
Freshly baked rolls and croissants add to a lovely smell. The breakfast is also waste conscious, no small plastic pots here, the only waste I left was egg shell and a tea bag, compostable....

Short but very Sweet
We recently stayed for one night at the Hotel am Kastell. This is indeed a lovely place to stay, set in a quiet location but very close to shops, places to eat and some very lovely architecture. Our room was very spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. There was plenty of choice at breakfast, cooked and continental, which was in plentiful supply. I agree with recent reviewers in that we encountered the friendliest and most helpful staff, especially at Reception who I cannot praise enough, as upon leaving the following day, I managed to leave my jacket in the room, this was not realised until we were in Brussels at our next stop. They very kindly sent my jacket back to me which I received two days ago.
