Wonderful Andros
We stayed for 10 days at Villa Sofia. The property is very nice and is located in a quiet area between Gavrio and Batsi. We had a 2-storey apartment, huge and very functional with a kitchenette (never used), bathroom with shower and 2 large wardrobes. The hotel has a swimming pool with a bar where every day you could find fresh grapes and figs (in addition to the usual drinks and coffee). A few hundred meters away there are restaurants, bakeries and mini markets and the famous Agios Petros beach.
The owner and all the staff are very kind!

Enjoyable Stay
We had never visited Andros Island before and booked Villa Sofia via booking.com
Location is about 2km (6 mins by taxi costing 10 euro) outside of the Port of Gaviro, so a quick transfer after arriving by ferry from Rafina on the Greek mainland.
Well situated away from any main roads and just 800m walk to several beaches and beach bars.
Gaviro town is walkable without luggage in about 15-20mins and has several bars, restaurants and supermarkets.
Accomodation is very spacious. Our apartment had a ground floor living room and kitchen and upstairs bedrooms.
Beware there are quite narrow spiral stairs to access first floor.
Breakfast was served outside near the pool and was good with a choice of cereal, breads, ham and chesse with eggs to order. Coffee and juice included.
Swimming pool was excellent and cleaned everyday.
Staff friendly.
Highly recommended, especially for families

Overpriced and Impractical apartments. We would not stay there again
The location is very good and there is a nice swimming pool which the kids much enjoyed. There was also convenient parking space. But these are the only positive things I can say. The rooms/apartment are only partially renovated and the photos are misleading. There is an effort to offer some sort of kitchenette in the rooms but these are too small and in some cases inconveniently placed. If you imagine that you can cook there you will be disappointed. I understand that we were lucky to have one of the most spacious kitchenettes (our friends were not as lucky) and that comprised of a sink, a very small oven (microwave sized) with hobs on its top and a good sized fridge (I understand that other rooms had a tiny fridge). The fridge was probably made back in the 70's or 80's and made a lot of noise which was annoying even if you were sleeping on the upper floor.
Breakfast was poor. Poor labeling on the "buffet" limited (fruit) selection, even DYI to boil your egg (you could have this only boiled not fried & no omelets).
Although they advertise having the famous "Cocomat" mattresses this was only true for the double bed. Taking into consideration that the apartment is rented for a family on an equivalent rate, this was misleading. The mattress of the third bed for our young child was extremely firm for any human's standard (myself included who I like my mattress rather firm) which makes this unacceptable. Not to mention that the third bed is situated just opposite the bathroom door... However the worst part of our experience was the very, very narrow and spiral staircase!!!! It was inconvenient for us to use and challenging for our preschooler kids. Imagine having to carry up this staircase a suitcase or your child which has fallen a sleep on the way while driving back to the Villa Sophia, too difficult for no reason.... It is simply unacceptable to have such a staircase in these apartments! Don't say we didn't warn you! Seriously overpriced for what it was and very impractical, I would definitely chose another place to stay especially for the money we paid!!!! Sorry they should seriously get their act together rather that disappointing their visitors.

Σας ευχαριστούμε καταρχήν για τα καλά σας λόγια όσον αφορά την τοποθεσία, την πισίνα και τον χώρο στάθμευσης. Λυπούμαστε βέβαια που σχηματίσατε όλες αυτές τις άσχημες εντυπώσεις για το ξενοδοχείο μας. Θα θέλαμε να σας υπενθυμίσουμε αρχικά πως, όταν σας είχαμε δώσει περιγραφή του καταλύματος και του διαμερίσματος που θα μένατε, σας είχαμε ξεκάθαρα αναφέρει πως υπάρχει σκάλα εντός του διαμερίσματος και πως η κουζίνα είναι μικρή.Στο ξενοδοχείο μας φιλοξενούμε οικογένειες και με παιδιά μικρότερα απ’ τα δικά σας και ποτέ δεν εξέφρασαν κάποιο παράπονο για την εσωτερική σκάλα. Επιπλέον, ένα διώροφο διαμέρισμα 50τμ. που θα περιελάμβανε εκτός από μεγάλο καθιστικό, κρεβατοκάμαρα, μπάνιο, βεράντα και μπαλκόνι και πολύ μεγάλη κουζίνα, δεν θα είχε φυσικά την τιμή που πληρώσατε εσείς, αλλά πολύ υψηλότερη. Κι ας μην ξεχνάτε πως όταν ήρθατε εσείς, στην μέση της high season, οι τιμές δεν θα μπορούσαν να είναι χαμηλότερες για να ένα διαμέρισμα 50τμ, με πρωινό και με τέτοιον περιβάλλοντα χώρο.
Όσον αφορά τους φίλους σας, προκειμένου να μείνουν ευχαριστημένοι, του μεταφέραμε στην σουίτα μας (διαμέρισμα 85τμ.) χωρίς καμία επιπλέον χρέωση παρόλο που κόστιζε πολύ παραπάνω απ’ όσο είχαν πληρώσει. Είμαστε σίγουροι πως είστε ενήμερος για την εξυπηρέτηση αυτή.
Επιπλέον, σε ένα πρωινό που αποτελείται από σπιτικές μαρμελάδες και γλυκά του κουταλιού, μέλι, σπιτικό κέικ, κρουασάν, βούτυρο, πίτσες, λευκό και μαύρο ψωμί, δημητριακά διαφόρων ειδών, χυμό και γάλα, αυγά, φρούτα εποχής από τον κήπο μας (σταφύλια και σύκα), ταχίνι, χαλβά, γιαούρτι, αφεψήματα όπως διαφορα ειδη τσαγιου κλπ, ντοματες, φρεσκες πιπεριες, ανθοτυρο, ζαμπον και κιτρινο τυρι, δεν πιστεύουμε πως ο χαρακτηρισμός «φτωχό» του ταιριάζει. Όσον αφορά το “poor labeling” που αναφέρατε, προτιμούμε αντί για απλές ετικέτες πάνω στα προιόντα, να εξηγούμε εμείς οι ίδιοι τι είναι το καθετί προκειμένου να αναπτύσσουμε και μια παραπάνω επικοινωνία με τους πελάτες μας. Σχετικά με το μηχάνημα που βράζει τα αυγά, δεν ήταν DIY καθώς οι κοπέλες που ήταν εκεί στο πρωινό, τοποθετούσαν οι ίδιες τα αυγά για να βράσουν. Σκοπός της ύπαρξης του μηχανήματος αυτού είναι να βράζουμε τα αυγά εκείνη τη στιγμή όπως ακριβώς τα θέλει ο κάθε πελάτης (περισσότερο ή λιγότερο βρασμένα), έτσι ώστε να ικανοποιούνται και οι πιο απαιτητικοί. Επίσης, μια μικρή διόρθωση. Η ίδια η κα Σοφία κάθε πρωί ετοίμαζε και ομελέττες, οπότε μπορούσατε να απολαύσετε τα αυγά σας και αλλιώς.
Τελειώνοντας, δεν γνωρίζουμε σε ποιο άλλο ξενοδοχείο θα γινόταν ανεκτή και σεβαστή η απαγόρευση που μας είχατε δώσει για μη είσοδο της καθαρίστριας στο διαμέρισμά σας κατά την διαμονή σας. Για τέτοιου είδους επιθυμίες, το ξενοδοχείο θα πρέπει να ενημερώνεται εκ των προτέρων έτσι ώστε να αποφασιστεί εάν θα γίνει δεκτή ή όχι η κράτηση. Διότι το κάθε ξενοδοχείο έχει την δική του πολιτική και η δική μας περιλαμβάνει των καθημερινό καθαρισμό των διαμερισμάτων, πράγμα το οποίο μας απαγορεύσατε.
Να είστε σίγουρος πως παίρνουμε την δουλειά μας στα σοβαρά και αυτό το αποδεικνύει η τριακονταετής παρουσία μας στο χώρο. Προσπαθούμε για το καλύτερο και δεν επαναπαυόμαστε. Απόδειξη οι συνεχείς ανακαινίσεις που γίνονται στο ξενοδοχείο.

Just ok
Set in a quite place, ideally located close to island's main port and nice beaches, cool pool and garden.
Our apartment divided into two levels, the ground floor with very old furnitures (sofa canapé, table, table cloth and kitchen), upper floor newer with comfortable bed and maitress, small spaces and bathroom ok.
Breakfast is to be forgotten, better not to serve it at all.
Overpriced for what they offer.
Owners not so welcome as expected

Brilliant in every way
We stayed here as a family of four and the place is lovely. The swimming pool area is quite new and meticulously scrubbed clean every morning and very tastefully done - and the girls just loved it and so provided a really good place to spend the hot sunshine days - with a lovely paddling pool for smaller children. The apartments are spacious and well laid out to open out on to the pool area with outside furniture and good sleeping space inside. The staff are awesome and what give the place real character and personality. They were so sweet and personable and helpful, but also really good company to chat to and we really enjoyed making friends and hanging out as well as their recommendations and suggestions for little known beaches and restaurants to find the hidden gems on the island.
All in all a really lovely place where the management team and owners take great pride in how everything is done and maintained - would strongly recommend.
Nearby within a 5 minute walk is a lovely beach although can get windy so make sure you choose the right end of the beach depending on wind direction.
