Very good hotel in central location!

We stayed at Sapphire Inn for 3 nights. This is a great, cost friendly hotel. The rooms are medium sized but well furnished. It is a new hotel and high on cleanliness. All basic amenities are available. The staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurant has great decor and serves nice homely food ( breakfast).
The great thing about this hotel is its location. It is in nice homely street but is walking distance from every attraction of Pondicherry - Promenade, the ashram, Ganapati temple, all large churches and well rated restaurants.
Recommended!

Horrible experience

The rooms are very small as compared to the money they charge for it. It feels like the room ends before it even starts. The room was not sound proof and I could hear people talking, tv playing clearly and loudly from the next room. At night, when people were talking nearby, it was so loud that I was not able to sleep properly.
The room charge was exorbitant. They charged be two thousand rupees extra when compared to walk ins. And asked me to pay extra 200 rupees per hour for the early check in. They did not even negotiate and the owner Tulsidas did not even pick up my call when I was checking out.
Pathetic experience.

Below Average

I visited Pondicherry in July and booked this hotel at the last moment.
Access to the hotel may be easy but we entered the narrow lanes following the google map. Any way we reached the hotel and found it to be okay from outside.
Parking is roadside but they also have few covered parking spaces too.
Check-in was smooth, then we took the lift for the room and believe me if there are 2 persons in the lift then you do not have the space even for your cabin bag :)
Room was small, average, damp, and had small queen size bed. Bathroom was very ordinary, towels were old.
Hotel does not have dining room so they serve the breakfast in the room which was very basic.
Location was good, hotel is at walking distance (10-15 mins) from the beach, Fuel station is next door, eateries are nearby.

Comfortable stay at a nice location

Its a new property located at a very central location in White Town. One can reach the Promenade beach at a walking distance and also can explore the market and the French colonies nearby. The rooms are of standard size and clean. Beds and linens were good and comfortable. The staff was very co-operative and helpful.It was a good experience interacting with them.
Cons: 1. Currently they were not having restaurant/cafe within their premises but they are already in the process and it would get functional by end of this year.
2. Any two consecutive rooms were not sound resistant but quite audible, even the washrooms. The hotel team should fix this as this can bother the residents.

Very small congusted room. Also did not keep up the promise offered during reservation.

Very small congested rooms, built in a very small property. The room did not have good ventilation and not worth for the money they quote. I did not have an good interaction with Reception and property owner as they did not keep up the promise offered during reservation. I was told the person who made my booking was layed-off the previous day and hence the promise he made are not valid any more.
