Jay is the ultimate host. I mean it—he sets the gold standard for hospitality. Coming from the U.S., I’m used to a fast-paced lifestyle, but my trip to Mauritius was all about slowing down, soaking in the island vibes, and experiencing something real. And Jay? He delivered big time.
We stayed with him for the entire month of December—yep, a whole month! And let me tell you, not once did I feel like I made the wrong choice. Jay brings a level of warmth and authenticity that’s rare, even in the most luxurious places. He’s one of the last true ambassadors of Mauritian hospitality, and it shows in everything he does.
Forget the soulless 5-star hotels. Sure, they’re fancy, but they often feel sterile and disconnected from the real island life. Jay’s place? It’s the perfect blend of comfort, culture, and connection. You get a clean, well-maintained room (with AC—hallelujah!), a peaceful rooftop tanning spot, and a garden that smells like paradise every morning.
And the breakfast? Holy cow. Fresh, flavorful, and unforgettable. It’s like your taste buds get a tropical vacation of their own. Jay combines Western favorites with Mauritian flair, and it’s the kind of meal that makes you excited to wake up.
He even picks you up from the airport with a smile that instantly makes you feel at home. The location is spot-on—just a short drive to postcard-perfect beaches and lively towns. Plus, Jay’s got the inside scoop on all the best activities and local experiences.
Whether you’re looking for a great host, a fantastic chef, or just someone to share a drink and good vibes with—Jay’s your guy. This stay was hands-down the best value for money, and it gave me everything I hoped for: relaxation, discovery, and genuine connection.

lovely place, in the village posted the flack.
Lovely spacious apartment, clean, good air conditioning, fully equipped kitchen. large balcony with sitting and dining area. overlooking beautiful garden. In non-touristy part of island. delicious local eateries nearby, but also some that maintain tourist standards. Beautiful forest near Bras Déau. Fantastic nice hosts Jay and Henry. Who can also help you with the necessary information. Enjoyed 12 days. Living between the classrooms.

In the centre of Flacq
Warm welcome of the landlord (who lives in the building). The apartment is equipped with everything (from fridge to microwave, safe to toaster, wifi and air conditioner). Clean and nicely decorated it offers a kitchenette, bedroom, bathroom and terrace for breakfast (on a lush garden). There are also common areas such as the reading room, the games room, the laundry room and the solarium. Located near the sea and other attractions. Easy parking under the house. Average price. Recommended for exploring the east of the island.

What a welcome and happiness!
Jay invites us to his house, and we feel like a family member right away. Comfort, quiet, hearty and fresh breakfast enjoying the wonderful garden carefully maintained. Advice, help, Jay is perfect for finding the best options. A real pleasure to stay here!

Excellent
The welcome from Jay who was a very friendly host, smiling, considerate, helping with good advice on places to visit. Thanks to him, I discovered the plants and fruit trees typical of the region in his exotic garden. The studio with terrace was perfect, mosquito net on the bed, the bedroom is decorated with paintings and has a desk, bedroom terrace overlooking the garden, plus panoramic terraces on the upper floor. Impeccable cleanliness. kitchenette separate from the bedroom. Private parking in front of the house. Walks to the Ile aux Cerfs, beautiful pond, national park and beautiful temple on a nearby island accessible on foot, very lively Flacq market. Blue Bay beach not far away. I really liked the Belle Mare beach a few minutes drive from the accommodation. the whole coast near the accommodation is beautiful, walk along the coast to the temple on foot, 2 restaurants very close by on foot. I recommend 200%
