A great stay with also an "outstanding view" :)

It was not super-sized but quite a sizeable room I would say (big enough for both a good-sized bed and an adjacent modest-sized area like a "living room" with a table & a few chairs) where also feeling like "almost as an extension" to the room (being located on the "top floor") was the quite-spacious "outdoor deck" with also a nice number of furniture items and where yes the best part is this "breathtaking panorama" which is like a combo view of "the city & the sea" (in like a semicircle from the high-ground part of the Medina on the left to the seafront including the ferry port for Spain straight ahead to some picturesque hill area on the far right a little on the outskirts of the city). And also, as for the "convenience of location", the site quite worthwhile in my opinion (for its interesting displays of history & nicely-decorated rooms) which is the American Legation Museum is just about a 5-minute walk away (to the right after coming out of this place), and also quite nearby at just a few-minute walk (to the left and yes actually close enough to be able to see from the rooms of this hotel) is the Grand Socco square with a number of places to eat around the square itself (for some nice fried-chicken meals) & slightly off the square (where I had some nice filling breakfasts at this restaurant "right before" getting to the square on the way from this place).
And, my many thanks are to Abdul & all the rest of the staff for their friendliness & cooperation including yes giving me a "great room" at the top and also booking a nice half-day trip to Cap Spartel (for the visits to the Lighthouse & the Hercules Cave).

Experience to forget

Cleanliness nonexistent, dirty sheets and linens, bathrooms in pitiful conditions, giant-sized cockroach in the room. My refund request was answered that it was not the fault of the facility if I was scared of the cockroaches

Excellent value for your money

I cannot fault the location of Hotel Marakech, it is close to everything you'll need in Tanger. It's virtually on top of Grand Socco indoor & outdoor souk. Close to all the main sights, the beaches, the Port. Despite being in the heart of the souk, it was relatively quiet. Our room was clean, but there was no air conditioning. The building is delightfully decorated in Moroccan mosaic designs, very beautiful & eye catching. It's a simple accomodation, excellent quality for money, but don't expect 5 star service.

In the Medina

Small hotel located at the gates of the Medina.
It is ideally located at the gates of the big soc.
Managed by Abdou and Noureddine, top people.
The rooms need to be refreshed as they age.
A beautiful terrace with views of the Medina and the ocean

Very good and recommended

I went because of its good location and good Booking references, the best is its owner Abdul, a great and humble person who helps you with everything you need...
He even gives you his contact and WhatsApp in case anything happens in Tangier...
I was with him and other people at a typical Moroccan show restaurant of theirs, and everything was great and super economical...
Esl Hotel is in the same medina and center and Plaza 9 de Abril.... This is the big market, it is the most authentic thing in Tangier...
Also next door is the Jewish cemetery, it is worth visiting.
You can walk to the beach and Marina Bay, the coolest place in Tangier.
