Have seen better days

Hotels that have seen better days. We stayed here two nights in a family room. The hotel has been expanded in stages and not exactly finished with renovation, which gives a bad impression. The other parts have seen better days and are quite worn. The family room and especially the toilet were very small. In the spa area, a hot tub was out of order for a long time. Also it was quite worn and the pools and sauna could have been warmer. Breakfast was good though, even if there were few seats.

Wonderful.

A fantastic old stately hotel. Beautiful.
Nice staff, especially at reception. Nice lovely “mountain-like” rooms. We had windows facing the valley.
Fantastic breakfast and the “world’s” best bacon. Large restaurant, round tables, elongated tables, small tables.
Many nice seating around the hotel.
Their spa is nice but not big. View of the valley.

Dr. Holms has finally become a good hotel again.

We have been guests at Dr. Holms For 25 years, both with Christmas party with the whole family, Christmas celebrations, and firmatures. In addition, we have often stayed there throughout the year. It was in a way our hotel on the mountain, as well as nice stops when we were on business trips. Then everything changed. The service fell, the hotel expired, the food became much worse, etc. So, we stopped using the hotel after 2 - 3 attempts, but there were only disappointments. But this time, the chosen will give it a new opportunity. And thank you for that. Nice reception In the front desk, the room was better than expected, much is refurbished. And best of all the food, the service and the restaurant itself. That was very good! Now we will definitely come back and take our family.

King of Geilo

From the outside Dr Holms is like a palace on the hill above Geilo and the station. Inside it partly feels like a rambling old house, or as we say in Norwegian: a crow's palace. It is clearly pieced together over 100 years. The hotel opened the same day as the Bergen line in 1909. The main hotel at Geilo and a well known name in Norway. A special place because of history and the idiosyncratic layout. We stayed there because we got a good offer for a small family room, the room was fine except that the door to the adjacent room was not sound proof at all, we could hear everything. But good value still. Parts of the hotel seems a bit worne and dated. Staff was friendly and helpful, clean and nice everywhere. Free parking close to the hotel. Fine breakfast.
