Nice place to stay in Huaraz!
I have to say that my stay at this accommodation in Huaraz was exceptional. The location is perfect, close to everything and at the same time in a quiet place that allows you to rest and relax. The atmosphere is beautiful, with a lovely garden and a cozy decor that makes you feel at home. But what impressed me most was the kindness and attention of Mrs. Vicky, who made sure I had everything I needed and made me feel like part of the family. The tranquility and peace that you breathe in this place is something that I highly valued, especially after a day of exploring the city and its surroundings.

Very bad service!
We were very dissappointed with our stay at Jo's place!
As we got the rooms one of them was still dirty. Used towels, full trashbins, disgusting! Asking for fresh towels they smelled so bad, that we didn't use them.
The breakfast costs 2 dollars, what is about 8 soles. For this money you can get very good breakfast in Peru! But not at Jo's Place. We got only one small pancake per person. The bread was so hard, we almost never saw a bread this hard before. This bread wasn't possible to eat. We begged a bit that we are very hungry so we got one more pancake. If we asked, they also made scrumbbled eggs for us. There was coffe and tea, but no juice, which is very untipical for Peru. At the first day they offered a few bananas at the second day no fruits at all. The tempo of producing eggs and pancakes was very slow and the people who made the food were not very welcoming.
The hostel also offers tours to different lakes. But the person who sits in the hostel is almost never there or if he is there, he doesn't seem to have a cloue about anything. Almost about every question we had, he had to call another person, also about topics that belong to the hostel.
The garden was nice but the sitting furniture were almost all damaged.
We are used to the standard of cheap hostels in Peru and it is totally ok for us if a accomdation is easy, but this hostel is really too bad in it's service and organisation.
We don't recommend this hostel!

Awesome place with garden and cosy kitchen. Most friendly staff ever met and delicious breakfast. Very cheap price. Definitely recommend this place! Thanks for the care and friendly welcoming faces :)

Basic place and ignorant owners
This place could be easily rated higher only if owners would care a bit more. It is quite dirty and there no toilet paper and soap in the bathrooms!!! I asked the owners to put it several times and they always ignored me! They said they do not want to put toilet paper coz guest steal it lol. I have never heard anything more stupid.
Another bad thing about this place is that the bathrooms and showers are outside so you will be freezer your ass off while showering and this was a very unpleasant experience. You can easily get sick like this!
Apart from that, they told me that if I want to use kitchen I need to buy my own matches or lighter as well as dishwashing detergent because all the tourist "use it up too fast" wtf?! Isn't it a standard to provide that? There was not even salt nor sugar, and when I asked politely for salt to put on my scrambled eggs they got upset with me and behaved as if they were making me a huge favor!
They never clean the kitchen and the towels were so disgusting as if they didn't wash them in a year.
They have very low hygiene standards and I recommend you to avoid this place at all price. I'm sure you can find something better, it can't get any worse than this.

Este lugar es muy comodo y Bonito , tenemos habitaciones con baños compartidos es por eso que no están en las habitaciones están afuera, también este lugar tiene jardín y las habitaciones están alrededor entonces si sales solo con toalla de la ducha te vas a enfriar, la cocina comunal es para todos los huéspedes y muchas veces son ellos los que dejan muy sucio la cocina porque no lavan los utensilios que utilizan todo las cosas que ponemos en la cocina son básicos para cocinar y no tienen ningún costo, el huésped tiene poner sus propia comida no nosotros la sal , azúcar etc lo tienen que comprar para que se cocinen ,en cuanto al higiene si se realiza una sola vez por día en la cocina

Relaxed place to hang out
Jo's place is a relaxed place to hang out with space for tents, tubs to hand wash clothes, lines for drying and hot water most of the time. Vicky is helpful and speaks English if your Spanish isn't so good. It's a bit further out of the middle of town, about a 7-10 minute walk but there are still small convenience shops and a bakeries close by.
