In a prime location in the Historical Center district of Arequipa, Bubamara Bolivar is located 1.8 km from Umacollo Stadium, 2.7 km from Melgar Stadium and 600 metres from Arequipa Main Square. The property features mountain and city views, and is 1.5 km from Yanahuara Church. Private parking can be arranged at an extra charge. A cozy and lovely home away from home

Due to the political instability in the region, we ended up staying 6 nights in Hostal Bubamara. And what a lovely stay it was! The hosts are very friendly and attentive, ready to share their knowledge of Arequipa. The hostal is situated in the heart of the historical center, in an attractive ancient house. We would stay a few nights more, if we could.

It's a scam.

The reception is awful. They're almost never open.
They only charge cash and, only if you ask for it, they make you a very bad bill. He has charged us extra taxes that we did not have to pay because it is 18% for Peruvians but not the rest. Even if they told you, they demanded them from us anyway.
I left the charger but when I came back for it half an hour after the checkout, no one was answering the door and I couldn't get it back. They told me they'd send it to me, but it's a LIE, they're thieves.
The room we were given was close to the exit but was very wet and dark.
We'll never go back there.

It ruined our visit to Arequipa!!

Attention!! Possibility of being cheated!!! After booking through Booking at this Hostal Bubamara, once we arrived there, they did not give us the room under the excuse of an alleged plumbing problem throughout the hotel, but strangely there were other guests coming in and out regularly. After having lost us several precious hours, they diverted us to another facility, further from the center, of worse quality, and paying the same price as the other. A real scam: to avoid!!

Close to the center, low price, nice room

I stayed 4 nights in private double bed room, and I really enjoyed my stay.
It’s right next to Monastery, about 7~8 minute walk to Armas plaza. Beds are real comfy and clean. Hot showers, yes of course. Wifi is on every floor, and it’s fast (At my stay, 2nd floor wifi was not working, they say their going to fix it) Everythings nice but it can be quite hard to sleep at night if you’re very sensitive to noise. There’s a road near by. Cars are quiet through the evening, but at night, they go wild! They just keep honking and people yelling... It settle down about 1 am... but I guess that’s what you expect anywhere in this city, nothing can do about it.

Cheap & friendly - but also very authentic and enjoyable

Hostal Bubamara is located in the heart of old Arequipa which makes it perfect for walks around town. Access for cars in the area around Bubamara is limited which makes it feel even better - and getting a good night's sleep is an absolute given. Beds are comfortable and the rooms are certainly spacious enough. Historically, the property used to be a hostel for nuns visiting the neighbouring monastery so there's definitely a nice sense of tradition there. Accordingly, furnishings are no-frills but still very enjoyable - and the view from the top floor of the hostel around Arequipa is lovely. In terms of bang for the buck, the place is absolutely great.
The bedding and towels could use a bit of refreshing - and so could the shabby furnishings: their style is great, but most of them could do a with a bit of TLC. Also, some of the electrical plugs and sockets were not working - not a deal-breaker but something to look into.
