Extremely Nice and Comfortable Stay
A neighborhood hometel with very approachable and accommodating staff. The owners really aim to.please The place is centrally located and is a walking distance to the town center. Great value for your money.

Baletin Hometel, Basco – Clean and Well-Maintained, But Service Needs Consistency
Stayed here recently and had a mixed experience.
The place is spotlessly clean and well-maintained, and the location is good—central and generally safe. They also offer WiFi, although like most areas in Basco, the connection can be intermittent and not very strong. The roof deck offers a nice view, but since it’s on the 4th floor, it may be challenging for elderly guests and PWDs to access.
That said, there are some issues that shouldn’t be overlooked. Our toilet flush wasn’t working, which is a basic necessity and should be addressed promptly.
In terms of service, most of the staff are respectful, but there were a few interactions that stood out for the wrong reasons. Some front desk and kitchen staff came across as unfriendly or unhelpful, which contrasts with the generally warm hospitality you expect in Basco.
One instance in particular: I asked about an extension cord we had borrowed the night before, and the front desk simply said it had been “borrowed,” without clarifying or making any effort to help find another one. It felt dismissive and lacking in initiative.
To be fair, the male owner was professional, attentive, and genuinely helpful, and clearly makes an effort to ensure guests are comfortable.
Bottom line:
A very clean and well-kept place in a good location, but service consistency needs improvement. With better handling of guest concerns, this could easily be a much better overall experience.

This was a simple inexpensive hotel in the downtown area of Basco which made it very convenient to walking around and various dining places. The hosts were marvelous, with pick up and drop off to the airport. On a few occasions when it was raining, the owner, Bert Baletin, dropped us at a Restuarant and came and picked us later. The place was super clean and had a roof top that made great sightseeing for evening sunsets.

Warm Hospitality & Prime Location
Our stay at Baletin Hometel was truly memorable, thanks to the warm hospitality of Sir Bert, the owner. From the moment we arrived, he made us feel at home, personally picking us up from the airport and ensuring we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
Location-wise, it was perfect. My wife chose this place because of its proximity to the airport (just 5 minutes away) and its short walking distance to the Capitol, town plaza, and various eateries. After our daily tours, we enjoyed strolling around town, discovering local spots, and grabbing essentials from Bing-a-Bong, the 24/7 convenience store.
The hometel itself was clean and well-maintained. Just a heads-up: you'll need to bring your own toiletries, towel is provide. Breakfast was always served promptly at our preferred time, which was a big plus for us. We also booked our tours through them, and everything was smooth and well-organized. They will recommend the best time to leave for your tours and promptly serve the breakfast.
A special shoutout to Sir Manny, our tour guide, who was not only knowledgeable but also engaging and entertaining throughout our trips. Sir Vic, our tour driver, was equally accommodating, he even joined us on a side-trip hike, which made the experience even more enjoyable! It was also impressive that our tour van was kept spotless every day, and our airport transfers were always on time.
A Few Things to Consider:
Internet connectivity can be a hit-or-miss. If you're just browsing social media or checking emails, Starlink should be sufficient. But for heavy data users like me, especially for multimedia work, it can be challenging. There were times I had to leave my laptop awake overnight just to sync large files. So if you rely on high-speed internet for work, keep this in mind.
No in-room TV. If you like watching shows before bed, I suggest downloading movies or series from Netflix ahead of time to keep yourself entertained throughout your stay. There is a shared TV in the common area if you prefer watching there.
Overall, Baletin Hometel is as basic as it gets, but it's worth every peso. If you're looking for a clean, affordable, and well-located stay with top-notch hospitality, this is the place to be. Highly recommended!

Highly recommended
Visited Basco, Batanes in February 2020. Stayed in this hometel for 3 nights as its Expedia price was enticing.
Hometel- a home and hotel at the same time. My husband and I loved the place. Centrally located, everything within walking distance, especially town center- business area, municipal offices, church.
Got in touch with hotel before arrival. Got picked up at the airport. Also hotel arranged our Batanes tour. We only had to worry about dinner as breakfast was included. The 3-day tour included lunch as well. It was sumptuous, home- cooked, reflective of Ivatan culture with a touch of Spanish and Chinese influence.
We only had to worry about dinner. It was not a problem. As mentioned, this hometel is centrally located hence eating places were within walking distance. I strongly advise eating out. We ordered dinner on our 1st night in the hotel and I thought it was way too expensive.
This is a hometel, so do not expect 5-star quality. But I assure you, you will have a pleasant stay.
