Excellent and friendliest stay at katunayaka.

My stay of over a week at Selahn Inn was excellent. Saman was always friendly, helpful and attentive to not only myself but to everyone who stays here. I observe this while I was sitting at front waiting for my friend to pick me up.
Saman and his family helps to all customers with whatever they want to get done. Flexible, relatively low budget with an excellent service and close to the International airport will be a great choice whoever want to find a place to stay with safety.
We developed a great trust with a couple of stay and would always come back to stay here. I do not hesitate to recommend any traveler to experience the warm, kind and friendly hospitality of Saman, his family and Selahn Inn at 130, Temple Road, Katunayaka, Sri Lanka.

Depends on what you want

We booked this hotel for one night. Out flight was midnight and we selected this hotel cause it was cheap and close to the airport. My experience is as follows:
Location: although they say it is close but it took us 10 minutes to reach the airport by Tuktuk (although was no traffic cause it was 12:30 AM). The owner of the hotel arranged the Tuktuk for us for 250 LKR. The problem is that the Tuktuk’s are not allowed to enter the airport and he stopped far from the departure gate. For us was no problem cause we only have carry on small cabin luggage. Imagine if you have more than one and big luggage it will be difficult to manage.
Room: very bad room and not maintained. AC was not working and only fan in the room. The room was very very very hot. I thought I could take a nap before the flight but difficult and very hot. Bathroom was clean but the room in general was old.
Staff: very friendly and helpful.
Price: very cheap rate. If your plan just to spend few hours (without sleeping) then I recommend it. Otherwise, book better hotel/room.

Such hospitality!!!

After a long travel day from Thailand we were happy to arrive here - we had help with our bags carried to our room, and had a good sleep. Basic but clean spacious rooms, all you need. In the morning our host Saman brought us up delicious tea with milk and sugar ! He also allowed us to keep two of our backpacks here while we travel around the rest of this lovely country. He was so helpful in so many ways to us, such a wonderful first impression of Sri Lankan’s! THis place is nice and close tot the airport too which was great. He helped arrange our transport the next day so everything went smoothly.
Can’t recommend enough - such a great place and host!

Airport Transit

Only stayed one night prior to catching flight in the morning. Convenient 5 minutes to airport. Clean room. AC if you want it. Wifi. Friendly welcome. The pillows and bed were a lot firmer than I would have liked but okay for an overnight stay before your flight.

“Easy and cheaper with greater care at the airport doorstep.”

Owner operator Saman was very helpful and provided all what we needed. Ours was just an overnight stay this occasion and will be returning for four nights again early next month. Saman is very attentive owner. We needed facility to make tea very early in the morning like 04:30 in the morning. He obliged with no questions. Needed a tuk tuk, took only two minutes.
Busy atmosphere early in the morning with tour vans as they set about with their organised tours. People who are leaving banging the doors in early hours. Saman can not control this of course.
