A genuinely bad room, and a response that made it worse

The room was poor and the hotel's handling of it was worse. That combination is why I'm writing this.
Room 16 is an attic above the top floor — so high the elevator doesn't even reach it. No air conditioning, one small window, no cross-ventilation, and a sloped ceiling directly under the roof that bakes all day and radiates heat all night. It never cooled down, not even at 3am.
It was, plainly, uninhabitable — impossible to sleep in, impossible to sit in and work during the day.
But a hot room is one thing. The response is what turned a bad stay into a review:
– I was first promised a room change after the next day's checkouts — then it was quietly walked back to a vague "should a room become available, we'll review the possibility."
– The only cooling offered was a fan, which just pushes hot air around a room that's already an oven.
– I was told, in writing, that there's no AC, that they won't provide a portable unit, and that cooling is "the property owner's responsibility" — i.e. not their problem.
– Their actual advice for coping with the heat, in writing, to a guest who couldn't sleep, was to go swim in the Rhine.
That reply is the whole hotel in miniature: useless and slightly insulting. And there's no staffed reception to appeal to — check-in is automated, so when it goes wrong there's no one there. My final email was never answered at all.
After two sleepless nights I felt unwell, checked out, and moved to a much better (and not so much more expensive) hotel where I slept perfectly.
The problem was never the weather — it was this room, and a hotel with no one on hand and nothing to offer but a fan and a river.
Convenient location, quick check-in — fine for one cool night. But in summer, especially for work: avoid the attic rooms entirely.

No AC!

Do not stay here in the summer! There is no air conditioning! I understand these were hotter than usual days but I got maybe 3 hours of sleep a night because it was 90 degrees in my room. The 3 worst nights I’ve ever spent in a hotel! And the check-in process is not good either. It is self-check-in and they had my first and last names switched so it took forever in a small room where the temperature was 100 degrees. The bed is tiny but comfortable enough.

Check in was a nightmare. The check in kiosk was indoors but the only access to help was outside the locking door so it was at least a two person job, one to talk to staff outside and hold the door open and one to input at the kiosk! A total pain!!!!
The bathroom floor was peeling and there was mold in the shower

Close to train, no front desk, no human to check in, dirty bathroom. This is a 1 star maybe 2 star hotel.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this hotel earned every bit of this rating. The room was plainly dirty, and the bathroom had visible mold—completely unacceptable by any standard, let alone for a property claiming multiple stars. There was no front desk and essentially no customer service, which left guests to fend for themselves.

I feel this place is overpriced. It is dated at a poor condition. Not very clean. Very loud. You can hear your neighbors using their bathrooms, for example. This place rates high for a convenience, but otherwise I would pass. I think you can get better value for your money elsewhere.
