Situated in the small fishing village of Ullapool, the independent Argyll Hotel boasts free Wi-Fi and free parking. This traditional music venue features a seafood and steak restaurant, and a popular bar.

Ok stay but with some minor issues
2 night stay in a premium double room. Warm and helpful welcome although the car park was out of use due to a staff static caravan being delivered. Limited parking available in front of the hotel. Room was ok for the price but could use some TLC to fix a couple of issues such as loose curtain pole and toilet seat.
The two pillows provided were also like bricks, so had to use the cushions instead. The bar is great though with a mix of locals and visitors, but early season so no food on offer during our stay which was not a problem for us.
Note this is an older hotel so no lift and a couple of flights of stairs to negotiate.

Dismal Experiene.
My wife and I recently spent two nights in this hotel, from 23 to 24th September, 2025. We paid £278 for the two nights stay which included continental breakfast.
Generally, we found the hotel to be very disappointing. There was an apparent lack of cleanliness in the hotel. The corridors had dirty carpets, the paintwork was peeling off the walls at some places and the bathroom window in our room would not close properly. The room had neither a wardrobe nor a chair nor a table. The man who checked us into the hotel was acting as both the receptionist and barman. He did a decent job under difficult circumstances, always remained very polite, but obviously the hotel was seriously understaffed.
The breakfast was served at a hotel across the road. The food available for the continental breakfast was extremely limited.
Based on our experience, I could not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Filthy disgusting hotel
The minute I walked in I regretted the booking but I needed to sleep before I could drive my lorry again. The reception bench had been repaired with scrap unfinished and unpainted wood. The room had the dirtiest carpet and couch as well as chipped and worn paint. The TV didn't work and black mold was growing above the bathroom window. The headboard and bedside lamp were squint and something was left on the sheets. When I moved the bedside lamp I found it had been stuck down with filth. All of this is shown in photos.
I was fortunate in finding that the hotel kitchen was closed and decided not to avail myself of either dinner. I also decided against the breakfast I had paid for as although it was at a sister hotel it was tainted by association.

Disgraceful Customer Service and Complete Lack of Professionalism
My experience with this hotel was absolutely appalling. Due to ferry cancellations caused by bad weather, I was physically unable to arrive at the hotel. Despite this, my request for a refund was met with silence on the booking platform. Instead, I received a dismissive private message outright refusing a refund, not even a partial one, showing zero understanding or flexibility for circumstances beyond my control.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, I later received an automated message thanking me for my "stay"—a stay that never happened. The message was poorly formatted, which added insult to injury and showcased the sheer lack of professionalism at this establishment.
This level of disregard for customer service is disgraceful. If you value respect, communication, or even basic decency, I strongly advise you to avoid this hotel at all costs.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, I later received an automated message thanking me for my "stay"—a stay that never happened. The message was poorly formatted, which added insult to injury and showcased the sheer lack of professionalism at this establishment.

Not quite Fawlty Towers
Well some good and some bad!
The view from the room across Broome Loch was amazing, especially in the sunshine.
The hotel however left a bit to be desired. The carpets on the stairs and in the bedrooms were not clean at all.
There was no hot water in the evening in the sink.
The WI fi was appalling.
Some of the staff were friendly but others were constantly complaining about lack of staff.
The evening food was basic but ok but we had to go the the sister hotel across the road.
The breakfasts really were a disgrace. A continental breakfast is not just cereal and some bread still in the wrapper. Asking for oat milk and decaf coffee seemed to be a real issue.
The bed was comfortable although the pillows weren't and we could hear some one snoring next door on the three nights we stayed. Maybe some soundproofing is needed..
It was very expensive for what we got, especially in comparison with other hotels in the area.
