An art gallery of a hotel!

This little art gallery of a hotel is located in a great St Kilda spot - close to the beach, the Palais Theatre, great restaurants and Luna Park. The staff were helpful and friendly and the room was clean and tidy. The hotel loses a star because the bed was small (a double) and quite hard. We were in suite 101 - a great size but all a bit tired and smelled a bit musty. However, with the wonderful art, adorning all the walls, the fun colour schemes, the location and the friendly staff, it is certainly worth considering for a night or two.

Avoid!

Avoid…….. run down…….. unsafe feel……. shockingly bad room fixtures and fittings….. a hotel that no self respecting travel agent should even whisper the name of…….

Not clean, other people’s clothes were left in my room on checking in, (socks left on the floor) clearly not cleaned.
Carpets were threadbare in places and stained.
Bathroom was not clean, hair and stains

I used to always stay at this hotel a few years ago and always loved it bc of its location and its retro shabby chic vibe. Since, however, it’s only gotten shabby and kind of gross and run down. Now the vibe is halfway house, with dirty and mouldy bathrooms, really old mattresses that make you itchy and just dusty and old items. The TV wasn’t a a smart one and only offered local channels, etc. The owners should update the rooms and at least buy newer furniture. The only saving grace is the staff, they are lovely and helpful. The front desk staff and handy person were the best part of my stay there.
