A great spot downtown at a great price!

Loved this spot! The hosts were incredibly kind and helpful and the private room we had was perfect for us! Not to mention that it's downtown and close to morning cafes and evening restaurants.

Female solo traveler review

I’ll start by saying that San Ignacio didn’t feel particularly safe to me as a solo traveler. I stayed for just one night during Easter week, and I’d say more than 95% of the shops and restaurants were closed, which made the tow bit unsettling and super hard to find food.
At the hostel, the staff member known as “El flaco” was very kind and attentive, always willing to help with anything I needed. The hostel itself clearly falls into the budget category, but it’s cleaned daily. It has all the basic amenities you’d expect for a short stay.
That said, I would only recommend it for one night. I didn’t feel comfortable walking alone in the surrounding area. On top of that, it was extremely hot and there were a lot of mosquitoes, which made the stay a bit less comfortable.
Overall, it’s a simple and affordable option if you just need a place to sleep for a night, but solo female travelers may want to take extra precautions.

Javier and Kawoq made my stay in San Ignacio!

Kawoq. Hostel was PERFECT for my stay in San Ignacio. More than the affordability, location, cleanliness (SO CLEAN) and comfort was Javier! Javier greeted me with a welcoming smile and a pleasant demeanor (as he did with large and small groups alike). His knowledge of the area was amazing while His enthusiasm for Belize, Guatemala and The Maya culture was infectious. I was able to get to know Javier over my week stay. He took time to talk to anyone who was interested while maintaining, cleaning, checking ins and outs and doing laundry. While asking him overwhelming amount of questions about the Mayan Civilization he mentioned his tour guide experience. Since I was the only person at the hostel on my last day stay I was lucky enough to go with Javier as a tour guide of Tikal! WOW! What an amazing experience. He arranged a car, helped me across the boarder and took me to the best places to eat. But the Best was his tour of Tikal. We stayed the whole day. I learned more than I could have imagined and had the best VIP tour. I'll say I met Javier as an employee of Kawoq but I left there with a Friend. Thank you Kawoq! Thank you Javier!!!

Good option in San Ignacio

I liked it. Being right on Burns Ave, the hostel is ideally situated in San Ignacio, close to everything and yet at a tranquil spot in town. My bed was pod-style with a curtain, comfortable enough and each pod has two outlets. The common areas were nice, the kitchen was well equipped and the showers were beautifully warm. And all of that for a price that nobody could possibily complain about.

Do not stay here!

My friend and I stayed at this hostel as part of a G adventures trip. It was beyond disappointing. The facilities are unclean and poorly maintenance. The beds are basics and feel as though they might fall down! There are no towels or toiletries provided. I would not recommend anyone ever stay at this place it is awful
