Our savior!

Kessa's Chalets in Maun saved us from a bad experience in Maun. We had other accommodations booked but when we arrived, we couldn’t find that accommodation and saw signs for Kessa's Chalets and checked in with no problems. Very helpful and accommodating hosts and pleasant chalets made our stay comfortable.

Off the beaten path in Maun, Botswana

Kessa's Chalets in Maun saved us from a bad experience in Maun. I had other accommodations booked but when we arrived, we weren't on their "guest list" - saw signs for Kessa's Chalets and checked in with no problems. Very helpful and accommodating hosts and pleasant chalets made our stay comfortable.

Lies

I booked this hotel in advance. Based on the booking, free airport pickup and free beakfast was offered. When we arrived, we had to pay for the airport transfer and no free breakfast because we paid a "special rate". That was not true. Also, there is no wifi in the rooms only sporadically near the reception hut. Dead bugs found in room and electricity went out in the night making us freeze. Big disappointment. Also, service is terrible. You are lucky to find the clerk at the reception. Lastly, the place is completely isolated on a dirt road.

OVERNIGHT STAY

We arrived in Maun and were not satisfied with the booking of our chalets at another establishment. We see the billboards of Kessa's Chalets and decided to give them a try. We were surprise with the service and the chalets. The staff were very friendly. The chalets were clean and we really enjoy the stay. Next time when we visit Maun we will not looking for another place to stay but will stay at Kessa's Chalets.

Iets mis gegaan met boeking

We hadden ruim van tevoren geboekt en een bevestiging gehad. We hadden Residents Delight geboekt, het grote huis dat ook bij Kessa's Chalets hoort. Blijkbaar was er iets mis gegaan, want toen we aankwamen dachten ze dat dat de boeking geannuleerd was. Het huis was daarom niet klaar. Er was geen water. Daarvoor moest eerst een grote tank met water worden gevuld. Vervolgens was het filter heel vies, waardoor er bruin water kwam. Nadat het filter was schoongemaakt, bleef het water niet lekker ruiken. Vervolgens was er geen warm water. Ook de volgende dag was er nog geen warm water, uiteindelijk hebben we elders warm kunnen douchen.
Het huis op zich is prima. Er zijn 3 slaapkamers en een grote woonkamer. Wij denken dat dit eerder een hostel of iets dergelijks was, want op de deur van het huis staat reception en op elke kamer staat een kamernummer. De badkamer is wat verouderd. Onhandig is dat er alleen een douche is bij de grote slaapkamer.
Er is een mooie grote keuken. De inventaris is wat gebrekkig, als je hier zou willen koken, moet je goed kijken of allles er is. Er zijn bijvoorbeeld maar 2 pannen.
Tip zou zijn om op de voordeur een bordje Residents Delight te hangen (in plaats van receptie) en om in het bad (de tweede badkamer) ook een douche te monteren. En daarnaast natuurlijk zorgen dat het water het doet.
De eigenaresse vond het heel vervelend dat er van alles mis ging. Ze deed heel erg haar best om alles op te lossen en was heel vriendelijk.
Als je dit huis boekt, is het handig om van te voren contact op te nemen om zeker te weten dat alles klaar staat.
