The View!

Stay HERE. The host is magnificent. Hike, kayak, take a scenic boat ride, Calanques, beaches, restaurants, shopping, small town quaintness, it’s all here. The house is wonderful and breakfast was so good. I cannot wait to return.

Comfort and the best view in Cassis

Our large room with its own patio had a bath (which I love) and a shower (which my husband loves), and was supremely comfortable. Anne leaves at 7:30 each morning to buy baguettes and croissants from her special baker, and these are served with her home-made yoghurt, fruit salad, a variety of home-made jams and lovely coffee on the upstairs verandah at a big table where all guests love to chat. Anne is extremely welcoming and hospitable and a fount of information and advice on Cassis and the Calanques. We loved sitting on the verandah with a glass of wine in the evening and watching Le Cap Canaille change colour as the sun sets - sheer heaven.
The position of The Dorn was perfect for us - a 10-12 minute walk down to the port with its boat rides out to the Calanques, profusion of cafes and restaurants, and market on Wednesday and Friday; you pass a small pebble beach en route. It is also less than 10 minutes' walk to the start of walks and hikes along the cliffs above les Calanques.
You couldn't find a better place to stay in Cassis!

Tranquil stay in Cassis

Beautiful views of Cap Canaille from the terrace of each room and from the upper terrace where breakfast is served in good weather. On cooler days, breakfast is served indoors before a huge glass sliding door for the same spectacular view. Bedroom was large and comfortable and the breakfast was wonderful with a big selection of croissants, breads, jams, yogurt, tea, coffee, and fruit. The owner is a delightful lady who made sure our stay was perfect. From the house, you have easy access to the walking trails on the calanques. A great place to stay when visiting Cassis.

Charming B&B run by lovely owner

We stayed two nights at the Dorn in late June. The house is charming and quaint, with a gorgeous upstairs terrace overlooking the bay, where the owner, Anne, serves breakfast in the mornings. Anne is absolutely lovely, very helpful with providing maps and advice on what to do and where to go, and a joy to talk to in general. She is French but speaks perfect English. Breakfast at the Dorn is amazing and may have been my favorite part of our stay - fresh bread, jams, fruit, great coffee, and the best croissants I've had to date. She serves it beautifully and breakfast with the other guests feels convivial and special. Our only issue with the B&B itself was the lack of air conditioning during a very hot couple of days - a ceiling fan would have helped (or simply choosing a less-hot time of year to visit). In terms of location, the B&B is about a 10-minute walk to the port - some hills involved, but we had no issue with it and welcomed the exercise. It is also in very close proximity (less than 10 minutes walking) to the start of the hike along the calanques, so if you plan to do that then this is an especially convenient place to stay. All in all, we really enjoyed our visit and hope to go back to Cassis again.

château Anne

As newlyweds, we enjoyed our short 2 days at the Dorn. The host (Anne) was gracious and so welcoming. She also was helpful in assuring our dietary needs were provided (thanks for the gluten free bread Anne). Her kind advice about the Callanques ( which btw is only about 10 minutes away from the Dorn) was helpful in navigating us to a great water escape in the En Vau Callanques. The Dorn is an ideal spot to get to downtown for lunch or dinner (15 min. walk away), or a 5 min. walk to the sea and swim off a small cliff. But most importantly the view from Anne's rooftop patio is incredible.. Especially at 9 pm when the sun goes down. It goes without saying that the breakfast was tasty and delightful... NOTE: you will have to pay cash for your stay which is a small price to pay for what you get... Which to me is a small piece of heaven! Merci Anne!
