Overall, great location & hotel.
Staff were lovely but some inexperienced and lacked local insights and knowledge.
Cons - not up to our normal standard of Accor Mercure. No slippers/dressing gown/conditioner/face washers or even moisturising cream!! Bring your own.
Parking - We were unaware we had to book parking (be aware of this as you have to pre book) and never received notification of this. (Or if we did it was in French). Fortunately, we were graciously given a park as gold members.
Unfortunately, we were also overcharged for our breakfast and parking and only on our cross referencing realised this. So check your bill. (We were refunded after bringing it to their attention and apology was given).
Also, to note, do not expect a welcome gift as gold members. (Again, having travelled the world with Accor this was a first to not receive something). Again, when I asked, the staff were very accommodating and provided a wee token.
Overall, we would recommend and enjoyed our stay. Thank you!

Rather good hotel with private parking

Hotel Mercure
Paid parking (12 €). Attention, parking in Honfleur is paid even on Sundays and holidays.
Very welcome in the Accor tradition.
As seen in a comment, the hotel seems to be a restyled former red Ibis (proof of this is the TV cabinet). However, the decor is quite superb although the rooms are quite dark as seen in other reviews. The fridge cabinet is pretty awesome. The room is not very large (below Mercury standard) and there is not much room in the bathroom to put toiletries. Toilet paper is relatively thin.
No upgrade for a Gold card. We were served a welcome beer in 15cl. I checked from the start that the standard was 25 cl. A few years ago, we were commonly offered 50 cl in Mercury and Novotel (pity).
Although the breakfast room is small and we were a little tight together as in a Parisian restaurant, the breakfast was much higher than the average of what is currently done in the Mercury.
In conclusion Good but not crazy, especially considering the welcome drink ...

Not at all what we would expect at a 4-star Mercure hotel!
The staff were all very friendly, very helpful and accommodating and could not have been nicer. The hotel is well positioned close to the old town and harbour and its multitude of restaurants. Good parking available at the hotel. Nice selection of food for breakfast. Attractive and comfortable public areas. Good beds.
The negatives:
The room which we had – 412 – was tiny, not at all what we have come to expect from Mercure hotels and certainly not what we would expect from any four-star hotel. The overly large table in the room took up a lot of space and whilst the armchair and other chair were OK to use, they contributed to the overall lack of space.
The horribly dark décor accentuated this as did the fact that there was only one small window and very poor lighting in the main bedroom area. The room was so dark that we found ourselves having to have the lights on at almost any time of day! Even then, there was an all-pervading feeling of lack of light!
The door to the bathroom – black – had a number of very noticeable scratches and paint chips on it. In the bathroom, there were insufficient facilities to hang towels, bathmats etc. to dry. Space was at a bit of a premium in the bathroom generally although the shower was good, if a bit slippery underfoot.
In the main room, the electric light switches and the power points were difficult to find given the lack of natural light and that they were black against black walls.
Whilst it was nice to have a Nespresso machine in the room, there was no way of identifying what the various pods provided were, so it was potluck as to what coffee one ended up with. Also, if one was not familiar with how such machines operate, there were no instructions to assist.
Finally, the carpet in our room looked dirty and well-used
In summary, our stay was somewhat spoiled by the fact that we were paying four-star prices for a bedroom which was smaller than many we have experience in two-star hotels at one-third the price. This hotel’s accommodation certainly fell far short of the space standards we have come to expect from stays at other Mercure hotels both in France and elsewhere.
