Enjoyable but sometimes perplexing stay

Mercure Nancy Centre is indeed located in the very heart of Nancy, with Place Stanislas close by. Though you do have to pay some attention to find the hotel since the signage doesn't stand out that much, the hotel is very well-suited as a base to explore Nancy from.
The room we stayed in was comfortable, it being quite spacious and clean, with a large bathroom and a nice TV. The rest of the hotel interiors look fine if a bit dated in some places. As for any noise around the hotel, we really didn't notice any.
I will say that there were a few consuming or peculiar things around the hotel. First of all, the reception was located at a counter which also functioned as the bar and from the way it looked, you wouldn't really guess it was the place to check in and out. Also, the way the breakfast in the restaurant was organised was a bit confusing. The tables are basically located right next to a kitchen from which you can take food buffet-style, but in case you'd like meals that need to be prepared, in some cases you have to do so yourself, but certain other meals can only be prepared by the hotel staff. If this sounds confusing, that's because it is. Still, the staff around the kitchen was very friendly to us and prepared some food for us even after the official breakfast schedule was over.
All in all not a hundred percent what we had expected, but still a satisfying stay.

The rooms were OK, the distance to Place Stanislas perfect. Principally it would have been a nice stay...the room my daughters were in, was fine. There was a hotel parking, also good. BUT: Every night in my room (215) there was a very loud and strange noise for several seconds every approximately 8 minutes, usually starting at around 4 o'clock in the morning. This rhytm then went on for hours. Strangely this noise wasn't present during the rest of the day or the evening. However, this meant a maximum of 4-5 hours sleep. I informed the front desk after the first night and got told someone would look after this, I asked if I could change room, but was told the hotel was full. So when I returned in the evening things appeared OK...UNTIL 4:15. when the noise started again. The night was over. I was so angry and went to the frontdesk again...but was told there was no help in sight as it was the weekend...I was offered a refund of 41 Euro for the inconvenience....The lady told me this was the absolute max she could do...Well, we had to leave, so I took the 41 Euro. After returning home I wrote again to the hotel...no reaction...So, the hotel would have been OK, but the handling of the situation wasn't acceptable at all. 3 Stars because there were no problems with the other room

Lovely clean hotel right in the centre of Nancy. Great on-site secure parking. Lovely comfortable bed and pillows. Everything was so clean and the staff were very helpful. Would stay here again.

Good location for place stanislas. Limited parking for about 20 euro per night. Room had aircon.
Underground parking is behind the reception entrance. As you look at the hotel turn left then right and entrance is on the right

Boundless disappointment – far from a 4-star standard

On our summer trip through France, we deliberately booked an Accor Group hotel and decided on a Junior Suite at the Mercure Nancy Centre Place Stanislas (cost: €349.25 for a single night). The stay was supposed to be the highlight of our trip – however, the experience on-site was an absolute disappointment.
The hotel does not in any way meet the usual standards of a 4-star establishment. The interior is painted completely dark gray and conveys the gloomy atmosphere of a smoky student disco rather than the ambiance of an upscale hotel. The price-performance ratio here is not right at all.
Specific shortcomings during our stay:
Atmosphere & Amenities: Very gloomy, visually and qualitatively inferior.
Cleanliness & Hygiene: The lack of cleanliness is noticeable as early as the stairwell. This continues in the room and bathroom: The bathroom and air conditioning are partially germ-ridden and moldy (see photos).
Maintenance: Clear signs of wear throughout the room and hotel (scraped walls, damaged door frames). The connecting door could only be opened from one side – on the other side, the handle was completely missing.
Air conditioning: In addition to the visible defects, the air conditioning was extremely loud and annoying.
Overall impression: The property appears unkempt and neglected overall – at best at a 2-star level.
For a price of almost €350 per night, guests expect reasonable quality and clean, well-maintained premises. Unfortunately, I absolutely cannot recommend this hotel.
