A huge disappointment
I returned to Les Tipaniers in Moorea two years after a first stay of which I kept an absolutely wonderful memory. At the time, it was a true haven of peace: a magnificent setting, a preserved beach, calm, respect, and that rare feeling of being able to truly recharge.
Unfortunately, what a disappointment to return today...
Everything has changed. Access to the site is no longer really protected and the incessant coming and going of people from outside the hotel leads to noise disturbances from 6 a.m. and until late at night. The calm and tranquility that made all the charm of Les Tipaniers have completely disappeared.
Thefts also seem to have become frequent, which is particularly worrying when staying on site.
As for the beach, it is now constantly crowded. To such an extent that the hotel's own guests sometimes struggle to find a spot to simply enjoy the beach… It is the height of irony for someone who pays for their stay precisely to benefit from this environment.
And the saddest part remains, in my eyes, the degradation of the environment. Seeing kayaks get stuck in the coral and then be dislodged with heavy paddle blows is simply heartbreaking. The reef and this exceptional ecosystem deserve to be protected, not mistreated in this way.
What once made Les Tipaniers an exceptional place—the calm, the nature, the tranquility, the respect for the location—seems unfortunately to have disappeared.
One now has more the impression of being on an overcrowded tourist beach in the south of France, where all that is missing is the street vendor selling churros…
I am sincerely sad to reach this conclusion, because I loved this place enormously. But I will unfortunately not be coming back.
When you save up and go without for years to be able to afford a stay in Polynesia, you hope to have an exceptional experience. Today, in my eyes, Les Tipaniers unfortunately no longer justifies the price asked.
What a shame to have lost what once made up the entire soul and magic of this place.

Perfect location but the welcome and breakfast need improvement.
The beach is beautiful with the pier and its sunrise like I have never seen.
A small downside, but not insignificant, is that the welcome is not really ideal, as well as the interactions in the morning at breakfast. Only on Saturday did we see a big change with smiles and pleasant exchanges.
Regarding breakfast, honestly, having dining options in the hotel, we really expected better than industrial croissants and breads. As we mentioned, just a small homemade cake or bread would have really made a difference.

Exceptional Location
There are two restaurants that alternate opening hours, the nicest being the one on the beach. The food includes Polynesian and International choices. There are 4 rooms with no A/C nor kitchen that are very affordable; the other 20+ units have varying numbers of beds, kitchens, with or without A/C. There is an good grocery to the east of the hotel with prepared meals and good selection of beverages and to the west are more small convenience stores and several good restaurants. But what really is memorable is the warmth and helpfulness of the desk staff. A very friendly tuxedo cat and some chickens and roosters round out the crew. The one suggestion I have is that the hotel provide a water dispenser so that reusable bottles can be used instead of having to buy bottled water every day.
