standard German B&B

We stayed for a long weekend in November on a special deal with the local Spa. The rooms are of the typical German design with separate mattresses and duvets and wooden frames and furniture. It was however very spacious.
The room was spacious and the introduction by the owner very helpful and detailed.
The bathroom was a little small to dry all the towels used in the Spa but was also quite modern in decor.
The honesty bar is a great idea but does not look that inviting.
Everything was kept very neat, clean and tidy.
The breakfast was a little limiting and the tables were too small. Plus the lack of soft furnishings made the room quite loud. but they do excellent scrambled eggs.
The staff was very helpful.
Overall a pleasant enough stay but nothing to write home about. I gave it a 4 star as a rounded up 3.5.

Wonderful Small Boutique Hotel

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Ernst who owns the hotel with his wife was terrific, very helpful and customer service oriented. He told and showed us the bowling alleys downstairs and we had the most wonderful time playing games and drinking beers from the refrigerator that you could take and pay for later. He also gave us restaurant recommendations and the meal I had was probably one of the best our entire 2+ weeks in Germany. The rooms here are a nice size, basic and clean, small shower as many hotels in Europe. Breakfast was good, not great. The coffee was excellent and that matters to me. I slept well and enjoyed walking around this quaint town, which is steps away from the hotel. We enjoyed our stay here and would come back again.

Great customer service and comfortable rooms

Despite some issues with parking our car due to the selfishness of other guests failing to park properly in the marked lines, this was a great stopover hotel with clean and comfortable rooms a great breakfast and one of the best hosts we've met in Northern Germany... It's in a great location for the spa and the Old Town and only 5.minuyes walk from a great German / Croatian restaurant. I would use again and hope for better parking by fellow guests.

Basic, clean hotel a short walk from downtown

Our room was very hot and it was impossible to get cool air, even with the windows open at night. The room itself was adequately sized, basic, and clean. The parking spaces were exceedingly tight, but manageable. Breakfast was definitely more than adequate. Oddly, the hotel is closed from 1-5 pm, just when you'd think people would be checking in -- and there is no advanced warning of this. It would of course be fine if they would warn you in advance -- there must be a way to do this? It is a short walk to the pedestrian zone downtown. The wifi was free and worked very well.

great low budget hotel, great customer service

A friend and I spent 3 days in Aktivhotel and had a delightful experience. The place is modest without luxuries, but has everything you need and is spotless. The owners are a lovely couple, very accommodating to our needs. It is true that in the middle of the day no one is around, but in my experience that is a common thing in smaller hotels in Europe, as the owners are running errands during that time. All in all I highly recommend this place!
