Hygiene problem
I was honestly disappointed.
There was black mold on the tap in the bathroom. I reported this – in response I was only offered breakfast, the problem itself was not fixed and also not cleaned. I turned down breakfast.
The hotel advertises that rooms are cleaned only on request for environmental reasons. I asked for the cleaning – but hardly anything was done: only the floor was mopped, everything else I had to clean myself. Also the toilet was not cleaned, so I had to buy disinfectant myself.
The garbage problem I mentioned 3 times: There were no bin bags, the bin was neither emptied nor cleaned and ended up stinking at my door. The reception gave me a laundry bag as a replacement, as there were no garbage bags. I then had to put it in the hallway, filled with garbage, in front of the door. The trash can itself, however, remained unaltered, stinking at the door-until my departure.
The supposed allergy concept didn't work for me either: Bed linen and toppers were appropriate, but the mattress lay unprotected and was heavily dusted. If the topper slipped, I had direct contact with the mattress, which caused me breathing difficulties.
My first room smelled strongly of gulli/sweat, plus an extremely noisy heater – I had to move, there was no help with that.
The staff was friendly and helpful. Overall, the problems have not really been solved, despite several references.
For me it shows: Hygiene problems quickly arise without regular cleaning. The concept seems more suitable for short stays – for a week’s stay it was not sustainable. I very much regret the stay and have moved to another hotel.

Horrible experience that almost ruined our vacation
We simply feel so poorly treated, and I am shocked that a hotel chain like Scandic does not take better care of their guests.
One morning we woke up and discovered that I had experienced a bleeding accident. When my husband explained the situation, we were told that the mattress was ruined and that we would be receiving an extra charge.
He wanted to have a dialogue about the fairness of the situation, but they were impossible to reason with. I understand perfectly well, that you must respect other people's property and treat the room properly. But in this case, it was an accident, not a culpable act. Furthermore, it might as well have been vomit or a child accidentally wetting the bed. As a hotel, and even a big hotel chain, do you not also have a responsibility to take precautions, such as using mattress protectors? Even at the cheapest hotels in Thailand, we have only ever experienced that the hotels were conscious of their responsibility and took their safety precautions. I would not feel safe staying at Scandic again, knowing that I could potentially end up with an extra bill for a stay that was already expensive.
Only stay at Scandic if you are absolutely certain that you will not fall ill, get a nosebleed, have your period, or, like me, experience a miscarriage. By the way, you had better not bring children either. Imagine if they wet the bed or spill something and you are left with a huge bill.
