Great hosts

We arrived here on a Thursday for a three night stay. We had a little trouble finding this hotel because it had an address on their site as being in Steinfurt. The hotel is in a small area called Burg Horst--about 5-7 km away from downtown Steinfurt. We were greeted warmly by Mrs. Riehemann and taken to our room. She offered here husband as the carrier of our luggage up the steps. It is at least 20 steps up to the first floor. Our room looked out to the "foot zone" of downtown. She told us that the restaurant would not be open that evening but we could arrange to have dinner there Friday and Saturday evening. We agreed to have dinner at the hotel. Dinner was three course one night and four course the other. There were 3-4 tables filled each night with guests of the hotel. Mr. Riehemann was the chef and he performed our dinners quite well. Our room was clean. The morning buffet offered a nice selection of breakfast foods. There is ample parking in the rear of the hotel.

Overnight Stay Too Short

We were lucky to be able to spend the night here while my husband was traveling for work. We only wished we could have stayed longer. Quaint B&B in the heart of a picturesque village in Steinfurt, Germany. Paul the Inn Keeper and owner was so hospitable. Our room was so large and open with a nice sized bathroom. The breakfast was delicious and the best coffee I had in a week while in Europe. We felt we were in a Disney village in Epcot while there. We hope to make it back for a longer stay in the future!

Not happy

We booked this hotel in advance. However when we arrived it was locked up and in darkness despite us being within the specified check-in times. After half an hour of wandering around we found an intercom and got some garbled message from a staff member (who turned out to be the proprietor) saying he was somewhere else and we would have to wait to be let in. We were not happy with this, so we phoned another hotel and booked alternative rooms. As we were leaving the proprietor turned up and an altercation ensued. Basically we did not think the service was good enough for the price, and did not want to stay in a hotel that was not properly staffed, so we left. We were still subsequently charged for the rooms we did not stay in, but to be honest it was worth losing the money not to stay in this person's hotel.

Good stop-over

An older rabbit-warren hotel, but in good condition with very friendly and helpful proprietor and wife. Limited evening menu, and we chose to eat out - but in retrospect would have dined in. A great breakfast with lots of choice. Only downside is the lack of an elevator, and being on the third floor meant struggling with bags - even with the willing help of the proprietor.

Quaint and quiet

Sizable rooms, with nice baths in the town center. A nice breakfast and free wifi. Very comfortable for a night stay. The restaurant was not open when I stayed there. The staff spoke enough english to make things easy.
