Good hotel, staff make it great

We originally booked another hotel from the same chain, and were transferred here because they were overbooked. At first, after reading other reviews, I really wasn’t happy, however I’m so glad we stayed here. I really wouldn’t say it’s a 4* by usual standards but the staff are amazing and can’t do enough for you! Place is clean, room was perfect wth great air con and we really enjoyed the breakfast each morning. The pool was a huge welcome after the hot days exploring the island. Turn left out of the hotel and you’re a stones throw away from so many restaurants, bars, shops and the beach. Thank you to everyone at the Opera Blue Hotel for making our holiday wonderful.

The room was okay. Not very well cleaned because there were toothpaste stains from previous guests and the shower was clogged. Small things but made us uncomfortable. Front desk was helpful and that’s why our rating is little better.

Abysmal.

I stayed here for 10 nights and paid over £1,000 to have a room myself. The location is central for Gouvia.
The rooms are abysmal! See the photos. It seemed sporadic when the sheets and towels were changed, also the toilet bin to hold used toilet paper.
The room safe did not work.
One of the room curtains did not pull over, so I had to look the other curtain on my case to ensure privacy.
I didn’t find a lot that appealed for breakfast but I’m sure it is run on a small budget.
The pool area is old and dirty and I never used it preferring to pay elsewhere.
The reception girl Katia is lovely, always with a pleasant smile.
The night security Alex was always very pleasant whenever I returned from a night out. His English was perfect, he was amazed I had visited Kerala in India where he originated from. Just a pleasant young man who worked permanent night shift as security and reception.
On my last night I decided to have a gin and orange at the pool bar. The lady on the bar quoted 11 euros, which would make it the dearest gin on the island. When I queried the amount, bearing in mind I had paid 8 euros the previous evening, I was told the 8 euros was incorrect. I was happy to pay the correct price as long as I could have a receipt, this was denied.
The man sitting at the end of the drinking introduced himself as the manager and I asked about Alex, who appeared to not be working there anymore.
Wow. I received a barrage of abuse, he stated it was an internal matter and not my business. I was so taken aback at his attitude to a customer I actually asked him if he had attended any customer relation hospitality courses. He assured me he had worked in the best Hotels in Dubai and Switzerland, so the guy is definitely working his way downwards.
I would not stay again,

Horrible

Horrible, dirty, truly terrible, the bathrooms are unsanitary and old, we didn't dare take a shower and it's really not clean! There is mold on the walls and the bathtub is truly terrible, and everything is worn, broken, and old, don't go there!

Clean comfortable Air Conditioned Room with pool view and pretty village view of the church

We wanted a hotel close to Corfu town so we could visit friends. Our room was clean and comfortable with a kingsize bed and air conditioning. The balcony was a good size with table and four chairs but could easily seat six. We overlooked the pool with a gorgeous view ofthe Church and school behind. Staff were welcoming and friendly. We travel extensively and this hotel met our needs. Bed was a huge kingsize and very comfortable. Sheets changed daily. Shower could do with an update but was powerful enough with plenty hot water. I really do
not understand the negative reviews unless we just had one of their best rooms. Room 209 served us well. We did not manage breakfast every day but when we did there was plenty to choose from. i wish there had been a bigger pool as I like to swim but it was ok for a dip. Great location for beach and restaurants and 15 mins walk to Marina. staff were welcoming and friendly and the Receptionist always had a smile for you. The lad on night time reception was friendly and
welcoming too. You get what you pay for. If people want a five star hotel they should book a five star hotel. This hotel is 3 star and worthy of it.
