A wonderful home from home.

I returned to Shantee House after 15 or so years (I stayed many times in the noughties). I was so happy to find out that the wonderful, kind hearted Bori and Atilla were still at the helm. I was welcomed back as an old friend and felt immediately at home. This is literally my favourite hostel in the world and it is amazing they have kept going and have constantly improved the place.
I returned with my partner and 9 year old daughter and they both loved it too.
Everyone is kind and the decor is really inspiring for travelling. Be sure to check out some of Atilla's old photo albums of his extensive travels.
It is incredibly well equipped, a short tram hop into Buda and great to see there's now a supermarket nearby.
Please do not hesitate to book a place here but make sure you leave enough days to really experience all that is Budapest! Also if you are a weary traveller there's no better place for a few days rest.
Community and communal cooking are encouraged with the best stocked kitchen I've seen. Comfy beds and a wonderful garden.

Absolute bliss

This was one of the most welcoming and loving place i have ever had the pleasure to spend some time in. The rooms are clean, the kitchen area has free tea, coffee and other foods to have, and i really liked the decor. The outdoor has a nice sitting area, and the graden has a very calm vibe, my favourites were the wind chimes. The people there were super open, and loving, and for that one week i have spent there, i truly felt at home in a sense. I feel very grateful for this experience.

amazing place ✨

trust me, go there! i stayed in a lot of hostels in my life and this is one of the best! when you would like to have the experience how a hostel should be, go there a big thank you to attila, marie, anna and bori… because of you shantee house felt like home
its super clean… dorms, kitchen, garden, terrace, showers, toiltes, common area, wifi, location - everything 10 out of 10!

An Oasis

We stayed two nights here and booked the yurt for two of us which was so spacious and could actually sleep 6! It was in the most tranquil little garden. The bathrooms and kitchen were always spotless. There were separate chopping boards for meat and veg. The shower was hot and good! There were tea and coffee making facilities. The tram was a 5 minute walk away. I couldn’t fault this place in any way! The owner was so relaxed and friendly and incredibly helpful in giving advice. I really didn’t want to leave! Well done to all involved, Shantee house is a wonderful place for travellers.

Amazing hostel

It is a very charming, special and pleasant hostel. With a huge amount of details, the hostel has an amazing and cool decoration. People are kind and friendly. The nice and easy. The kitchen is very good. The garden and the Mongolian Hurt are very authentic.
I recomend it 100% for people that wants to enjoy a high quality, good price, relaxed atmosphere, with asian topic/decoration.
