Best stay in banaras

The commune is the best place to stay in banaras. I visited there with my friends and had the most amazing experience.
Be it hygiene, staff, location everything is perfect.
Vishwanath temple, dashwamedha ghat and famous shops are nearby and easy to access even at night times, would highly recommend this place to each and everyone visiting KASHI

The commune, varanasi

This place is conveniently located on the main Luxa Road, just a short walk from the temple. The hosts are incredibly warm, friendly, and hospitable, making you feel truly at home even when you are away from home. If you're visiting Kashi, this is definitely a place worth considering for your stay.

Poor treatment, unclear arrangements & unnecessary stress !!

I came to Varanasi at the beginning of this week for a volunteering opportunity that had been discussed for around 10 days beforehand. I had specifically confirmed the accommodation and two-meal arrangement, especially after seeing comments about food on Volunteer Yatra, I was assured there would be no issue.
Unfortunately, the experience ended within a day.
Food: No breakfast, no clarity about the other meals, dinner came only after repeated follow-ups at around 11 PM.
Accommodation: Once the other female traveller checked out, I was repeatedly asked to move to a mixed dorm with no female traveller there, which I had clearly said I wasn't comfortable with. The AC main switch was also repeatedly turned off from outside in the hot and humid weather.
Only when I decided to leave was I told that the AC could be kept on in the female dorm if I were staying as a regular traveller. A volunteer is a traveller too, and volunteering should not mean receiving a different standard of basic hospitality. I was also asked to pay for the night's stay.
Overall, I found the founders' approach extremely unprofessional, insensitive & disappointing. What should have been an exciting volunteering experience instead left me extremely stressed & uncomfortable. I had to make alternative accommodation at very short notice. I had everything clearly discussed n confirmed in writing before travelling, yet the actual experience did not match what was communicated.
I would not recommend this hostel to travellers or volunteers. If you value basic hospitality, clear communication and respectful treatment, I would seriously think twice before staying here.

Stayed at THE COMMUNE for 8 days on my first solo trip and honestly had the absolute best time!!.. The vibe here is so cool, and I met some truly amazing people along the way.... Huge shoutout to Piyush and Nancy, they took care of all of us so well! The place is very safe and clean for sensitive people like me .. Plus, Kashi Vishwanath temple is super close, which made going for darshan completely stress-free... I’m definitely coming back here again!!!
