A special experience

We stayed two nights at Kamesei Onsen and wish we had booked for longer. From start to finish to was a wonderful and special time. The beautiful historic inn provides a glimpse into times past, the rooms are large and comfortable, the onsen amazing and the food was as good as any high end Japanese restaurant. Tyler, Mari and Andy made us feel welcome from the first moment. We spent two days hiking and exploring local sights and there was so much more to see. Highly recommended.

Thank you for making Kamesei Ryokan your hub for exploring our funky little onsen town, Togura-Kamiyamada, for a couple of days. We are grateful you enjoyed our inn's historical ambience as well as our chef's kaiseki dinner and our hospitality. There is a lot more to explore around our town -- we hope you can come again someday.

A wonderful and authentic family stay

We had a wonderful stay at Kamesei Ryokan and really enjoyed experiencing a traditional Japanese ryokan and the lovely onsen town of Togura-Kamiyamada.
Tyler, Andy and the whole team were incredibly welcoming and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The ryokan has so much character, the onsen was a great experience, and we especially loved taking the rental bikes out to explore the surrounding countryside and rice fields. The onsen baths and the gourmet meals were another memorable part of our stay.
We travelled as a family with four children and found Kamesei Ryokan very family-friendly. Everyone was so kind and welcoming to the kids, and we all felt very comfortable throughout our stay.
It was one of those places that gave us a real sense of Japan beyond the bigger cities and made our time in Nagano particularly special. We would happily stay again and definitely recommend Kamesei Ryokan to other families travelling in Japan.

Thank you for bringing your delightful to our little inn. We are grateful you appreciated our inn's classic style as well as our funky onsen town, Togura-Kamiyamada. I am glad you were able to explore our rural corner of Nagano using our rental bikes. And we have a variety of sizes so can accommodate most ages. If you ever return to Nagano, we would love to see you again.

A nice atmosphere inn

I stayed at Kamekiyo Ryokan in Kamiyamada Onsen for a visit to my parents' family grave in Nagano City. I parked the car right in front of the entrance and unloaded the luggage. Since there were many packages, it was easy. The inn parked the car in the parking lot for us. When I entered the entrance, there was a nice-looking front desk and a sofa. The inn building itself was old, but it felt well-maintained. They used old furniture and things in active use. The place where I ate was a beautiful, renovated room. The Japanese food was delicious, incorporating a Western atmosphere. The hot spring water was slightly odorous and alkaline, and it made my skin smooth and comfortable. Since I was planning to visit the grave in the morning and go to Zenkoji in the afternoon the next day, I asked the inn about a soba shop and an oyaki shop nearby, and they printed it out on nice paper for me. It was very polite. It was an inn with a good atmosphere and where I felt cared for.

信州にお越しになればはやはり温泉に入りたいですよね。今回のお墓参りにそして善光寺詣りでお越しになって頂いて、光栄でございます。おそば屋さんとおやき屋さんの情報がやくに立ったようで、嬉しいです。私達は信州そばとおやきが大好きで、情報を喜んで提供します。これからも宜しくお願い致します。

Detour to Sugadaira

I was able to forget everyday life and relax. The cookies were delicious and the rugby team of my nephews loved them.

おっ、シアトルクッキーは菅平のラグビーの皆さんに好評でしたか?　嬉しいです。
菅平は良い所ですが、季節によって宿は合宿で溢れます。戸倉上山田温泉は車で45分で、割りと便利です。
皆様は菅平へ行かれる際に是非に我が亀清旅館へお越しください。

Hospitality Inn

It was a small, historical inn, and this one was a perfect fit for creative cooking.
It's really nice to see the garden from the second-floor room, the inside of the building, which feels historic but is clean. The food and hot springs are perfect.
It was an inn that stayed with me. I'll come again.
