Very nice

We enjoyed our 1 night stay at villa Thakhek. Our room was beautiful, large and clean.
As for the staff, they are pretty reserved but I have nothing negative to say about them.
We had dinner and breakfast there too. It was cheap, simple and good, although several things were missing.
I recommend this hotel. It seems much better than the Travel Lodge for a price which is not that high given the quality (160,000 kips per night). Great value for money.

Good, but sink broken

Super nice staff, have spontaneously given us a room for the night. Unfortunately, the sink was broken. It was partially detached from the wall and hung down obliquely and was loose. One employee looked at the whole thing, but said we can use it that way. It went well, we were just careful. Otherwise nice grounds and good breakfast

not as good as before

increased from 110000 to 150000. in the last 2 yrs
no more slippers nor schampoo or bath gell etc. luke in 60000lak guest house.
air con more noisy.
more bungalows. no more restaurant temporarily.
still quiet.
I may return...or not

Overbooked our room without notice and excuses

We made a reservation in Villa Thakhek at booking.com. We filled in our creditcard details and the booking was confirmed. We arrived at 8pm and went to the reception of the Travel Lodge (the villa has no reception) the booring-looking staff told me that Villa Thakhed had no free rooms, so we had to find something else. When we made complaints about it they told us he worked for Travel lodge so had no responsibility over it.

Great place to stay...but also not great...

So myself and my fiancée stayed at Villa Thakhek for 3 nights whilst we did a trekking and a cycling tour of the Khammouane Province. Villa Thakhek is right next to the Thakhek Travelodge and just off the main road, about a 20min walk from the centre of town.
The room we stayed in was lovely. Nice and big, very clean and made up daily, the air con worked really well, really comfy bed (most mattresses in Laos are harder than the floor) which was so nice to know you we were coming back too, and a nice bathroom too which didnt smell. Only downsides to the room was that the shower didnt get hot (despite being an electric shower) and that the wifi was quite slow, but we made do. Besides that the room was awesome, and it was very quiet at night - no noise from staff, other guests or dogs.
The main reason that i havent rated this place 5/5 is due to the staff who greeted (bit generous) us when we arrived.
Their english was terrible (not a problem really) but mainly they just didn't care. We attempted to have some breakfast there one morning before a tour, arrived at 7am as the sign said from 7am onwards, to be told that they didn't do breakfast until 7.30, and provided us with no alternative, which was a pain as we were being picked up at 8am. So we had to wonder the streets and attempted to find something and ended up with some crisps as everywhere hadn't opened yet...
We alsobhad some laundry done - which came back ok, however 2 of my tshirts had blue stains on which weren't there before, and when we went to reception to let them know there was nobody around at all. I looked in the travelodge, around the villas, nobody. We waited and waited and after 20mins gave up. Figured we would have an extremely hard time explaining to them what had happened that there probably wasn't much point anyway, so i wouldn't recommend getting your laundry done there!
There was always a man on a tuk tuk waiting outside the establishment so that was handy in a number on occassions, saved us attempting to ask at reception (if there was anybody there) to book us something.
Overall was a very nice place, having a comfy bed and clean room to come back to was amazing, just lack of staff and pro-activeness let them down really!
