Solo Traveler

This hotel is a little bit off the beaten path in UB. The rooms are clean and comfortable, but not extravagant. The downtown area is a short cab ride away or a brisk walk from the hotel, if your like me the walk is great for people watching as this city wakes up in the morning. The real value in this hotel is the staff, they are great at making you feel welcomed and appreciated. They are great at recommending activities and sights to see in the city and have no problem with arranging taxis or activities for you. When you return back at the hotel that evening and your body is sore from exploring UB just pop into the spa in the hotel and enjoy a great massage $13 for one hour and you will sleep like a baby refreshed and ready for next day. This is the hotel for anyone if you like a little more adventure on the path less traveled, and it's a great place to start getting acquainted with the warm and welcoming Mongolian people.

Bad

Bad location,only one Chinese restaurant and Korean restaurant within walking distance. Bad services, during holiday hotel's restaurant not open for business. In room breakfast just toast and eggs. After stayed for few nights, change hotel. The only good thing is they refunded the rest of night which I did not use.

New World Plaza - You Can Find Better for Less

The hotel is not horrible, but it's not great, either. The location is terrible, definitely not good for female travelers. The place is poorly maintained, amenities are lacking and the rooms are kind of dirty. They will never be cleaned unless you ask specifically, which I did - it still didn't happen. Wifi never worked. I paid $83US per night. Later in the week, I moved to the Bishrelt. Cheaper ($80US per night), it was 100% better, much nicer location. I checked out very early - 3.30am - to go to the airport and they even had a little breakfast bag for me to take with me. New World Plaza isn't a total disaster, but there's no reason to stay there when you can stay elsewhere that is much better, cheaper.

Very average, poor location

Location is in a part of town with lots of home improvement shops and mechanics and the streets around the hotel are dusty and congested, so doesn't make a good first impression of UB. The free breakfast is minimal and staff can't be found once the food has run out. They won't make up your room unless you specifically ask them to.

Average.

booked 3 nights for a deluxe room during 2013 Naadam and paid 50% premium due to the festival. located on the poorer and dirtier part of town aka north of Seoul street. it's a good 15 min walk to Sukhbatar square. deluxe room (Rm402) is spacious with a hard double bed and a large sofa. 3 adults could fit comfortably in this room. bathroom is clean and functional however no shower curb so floor flooded after every shower. they were very stingy on towels. We literally had to beg for one fresh towel. complimentary breakfast with hot ham, eggs and breads but no coffee. wifi is available at every floor but really works only on the lobby floor. we actually stayed only 2 nights and checked out at 9pm on the last day but they DID NOT clean our room on the last day. were NOT too pleased about this. Staffs speak little to no English but were pleasant and helpful. We bumped the rating from poor to average because one staff member at the breakfast really went out of her way to help us with a SIM card. don't think we would come back here.
