Excelent Experience

The experience and stay at Fez DAR was amazing. The host was always extremely welcoming. He gave us tips and organized tours and the transport to and from the airport. The location is very good, being situated in the center of the Medina and on one of the main streets. The price is very good. Breakfast is very good and was prepared by the host. On one of the days, we had dinner with a meal that the host cooked for us which was amazing.
In summary, highly recommended.

Fez Dar - A Timeless Mystery - Or Mysterious Odor?

The eye-watering tang of cat urine greets you as surly Mohamed takes your bag. The address is wrong, but a street urchin directed you to the Riad...Disoriented you are shown to your "room". Bugs in the towels are a warning sign but you just paid. So when you sit on the bed and notice the filthy rug, you try to look past it. But then your eyes see the broken lock on the door and the empty bottle of dish soap on the sink in the bath. You start to get that quesy feeling you've been taken - because you have been. Then you look again at the "amenities", there is no rooftop view, the wall socket is by the bed but detached from the wall and the extra blankets are dumped in a pile at the bottom of the closet. Then the power is shut off at night. And then Mohamed let's loose with his friends at 1am as they talk and drink. Oh dear G*d, I just need to make it to the dawn and get the f outta here.....Have fun if you ignore my review. And if you are the tax authority in Morocco - this is your Exhibit A for tax evasion in Fez. Jez' sayin'. (And PS - Why does this Riad keep changing it's name slightly....maybe so it can try to outrun the reviews?) (THE PHOTOS BELOW DOCUMENT THE ABOVE)

In an old traditional building - excellent location in the medina near the blue door which is the main entrance point - simple, basic environment - basic breakfast - simple rooms with modest furnishings and modest linens - good cleanliness - minimal welcome - no reception

Scam and dangerous

⛔️WARNING SCAM!⛔️
Booked some time ago on booking, arrived at the riad we were told that the room had been accidentally given to someone else but that they had placed in another riad similar to the same price. The other riad was not present on booking but on google maps and trip advisor had many bad reviews. There were also 10 other people who had booked yesterday and he gave them the rooms. From the airport we arrived at the Riad Fez Dar with the transfer organized by the Riad itself, given the inconvenience and the mode of communication we refused to pay the €20 required and at that point the guy at the reception seized us: he closed the door of the Riad and did not want to let us out until we paid the €20 and we scared at the end we paid them. Given the other negative reviews, it is a modus operandi now validated, DO NOT BOOK HERE!

Cetral Location, Mustafa will come out to show you where it is!

Toured Morocco and stayed in several Riads and Dars. This one, like others, is centrally located in the Medina, and right next to the main souk road through the old town.
Spacious, with a fresh breakfast, and surprisingly cushioned beds! (Other experiences were reminiscent of a wooden plank!)
