Nice place...great breakfast...service on terrace is nothing...

Nice place...very much in need of major maintenance...! Lots of overdue maintenance...cobwebs, fabric, paintwork...etcetera... Inside however, everything was up and top...breakfast also totally fine...! What I don't like myself is..that when you arrive and sit on terrace ..you were in the middle of nowhere...! So you have to bump inside to order "something"....That's a lot of hassle again because that has to be done via a Qr code...I don't like...I didn't succeed either...Because (did it before...) when I tried that I had to first become a "member" of something again after which a SMS "code" would be sent.. or something... Anyway...I'm done.. ! Just grabbed a drink and put it on room number later...so you can..!

In bathroom slept by fire smell room

Determined to rent the estate Halsaf for a family gathering we went there to look and sleep a night trial. We were shown around and were still excited. We had smelled a strange smell in room 4, which we had reserved. But that probably came from the boiler house and would move away, it was said.
However, when we returned late in the evening to the room, where the window had been open all day, it still smelled. We tried to go to sleep, with the window still open, but the air remained too present and we got a sore throat and watery eyes. We decided to move the (thin) mattresses to the tiled floor of the bathroom in the middle of the night, close the door between bedroom and bathroom and open all the windows wide. In the middle of the night there was not much opportunity to do anything about it. We did not get through the night very pleasant or with a lot of sleep.
The next morning we reported that we were suffering from a bad smell of smoke. Only then did we hear that there had been a fire in the flue on the 1st/2nd floor next to our room in early February. We deeply regret that it was not mentioned earlier that there was a fire. In our view, the room should not be rented until the problem is completely solved. We decided not to rent the estate for the family weekend because we don't want to run the risk that one of our relatives would have to sleep in the smoke (we would need all the rooms in the B&B). That's a shame, because the estate is except for that smell of smoke a nice location with opportunity for dinner, (outside) breakfast and a nice park.
The estate has never apologized and always denied that the smell of smoke was or would be a problem, but after difficult consultation we did eventually get a refund for the room.

Dreamlike ambience

Fantastic ambience, great attention to detail. Spacious rooms, very cozy "living room" with turntable and a small, fine record collection. Very nice breakfast rooms. Perfect for groups and single couples.

Authentic and modern old house-manor

We spent 4 nights (extended week-end) in this beautiful old house, very well renovated with good balance between authenticity from the past an modern touches. The place is extremely quiet but close to everything.Our standard room was very nicely decorated, cosy. Very good bed and pillows. The people there are very nice, friendly, helpful.

Beautiful place to visit again and again!

Landgoed Halsaf is situated in a very quiet area in the forrest not far outside the little town Babberich, close to the German border. The house both inside and outside and its surrounding garden are beautiful. There is a terrace with evening sun. One can buy drinks from a selfservice spot at an affordable price. Our room was very large and the beds were very comfortable. There was a nice big bathroom. We were taken good care of, even though we were the only guests that night and could not tell which time we would arrive. Linda, who made us a good breakfast in the morning, was also very nice. It was just a short walk from Landgoed Halsaf to an Italian restaurant with good food and nice people.
· Wifi did not function very well.
