Unfair cancellation policy
I booked a bed on the 16th at 5pm with arrival on the 17th, and had to cancel at 4:30am due to an emergency that prevented me from catching my flight. Less than 12 hours had passed since booking, mostly overnight.
The staff were polite and genuinely tried to resell the bed. They couldn't — no one booked in. To their credit, they refunded one night and offered a complimentary BBQ for a future stay. I appreciate the gesture, but a future discount at a place I don't know if or when I'll visit again isn't the same as a fair resolution now.
I offered a compromise: keep the first night as a real cancellation cost, refund the remaining two. This was declined.
Here's what I find unfair: my cancellation caused no financial loss — the bed wasn't resold regardless. And I cancelled within hours of booking, not after weeks. Yet the full charge stands.
The owner explained their position, but I disagree with the underlying logic: a policy that charges you in full no matter when you cancel, and regardless of whether any actual loss occurred, protects the hostel entirely while leaving the guest with no recourse.
The place may well be lovely. But if anything goes wrong with your travel plans, know that you're on your own.

It was the first time I was traveling alone and my first time also in a hostel, I could not have dreamed better! Everyone is friendly, there is a great atmosphere, on the whatsapp group activities are offered almost every day, the whole team ensures that people feel good. Cleaning is done regularly and the fact of being able to have private rooms is amazing. The location is great, 10-15minutes walk to the beach.

Tenerife splendor
Beautiful vacation. La Tortuga welcomed us with open arms offering everything you could want: cleanliness, fun and great availability. The volunteer boys made us breathe the harmony of this Hostel. Highly recommended to go and return with joy. Gloria/Florence/Italy

Excellent
Great experience in what , more than a hostel, I consider a family.... The owners Alessandro and Pasquale are always attentive to the needs and entertainment of guests, how not to mention the legendary Barbecue on Wednesday evening where you eat to your satiation in All you can eat mode
There are plenty of activities created especially for guests ... the legendary Carlosss volunteer staff organizes every Monday wonderful soccer matches and on Sunday the sunset on the beautiful beach of Fanabe with beautiful beach volleyball matches included
On Monday Yoga lessons and Friday salsa and bachata lessons
All volunteers cmq are busy x keep super clean the hostel and make guests feel at home
I can only highly recommend this Hostel, especially to those who love sports!!
