Ideal for a concert @ the racecourse
The staff, particularly the friendly lady who cleaned our room, were incredibly engaging. We also enjoyed a lovely glass of Pinot Grigio on the rooftop bar with its sun-drenched balcony and stunning views.
Breakfast was continental, which was fine by us but considering the room prices, a hot breakfast should be standard. Overall, it was a great hotel and we’ll definitely return.

Poor room location 401
I’m not going to mention breakfast as every other review has already, simple train your receptionist to say continental breakfast rather than breakfast is included in your stay, saves any confusion.

Great value & location
Hotel is located adjacent the race course. I didn't use the hotel parking but the nearby public Little Roodee car park. £9.50 overnight. 3 min walk.
We were fortunate to score an upgrade - not sure if due to Booking.com Genius status or just because...
2nd fl Room was large, great views. Very comfortable king bed. Huge bathroom.
Premium coffee maker but only decaf capsules!
5th fl bar has terraces with race course views. Bartender nice but needs cocktail training.
Didn't have breakfast (9 min walk to The Ivy..)
10 - 15min walk to city center.
All in all a great place & good value.

Nice hotel / great location but disappointed by the breakfast con
Decent sized rooms with excellent air conditioning.
Con……Very annoyed to be that advised via email a few days before that the ‘free breakfast’ only included a continental selection. Clearly contacting us before arrival demonstrates it’s a constant criticism from the guests and certainly not clear when booking. I really do despise lack of communication as in this case I believe it’s deceitful.
We Went into Chester to get a quality breakfast and a barista coffee as I wasn’t going to pay £20 for a mediocre quality offering with machine coffee.
I’d expected a fee to park ( it’s Chester ) but £20 is steep. I paid half that nearby.
Shame I won’t be back just because of this despite it being a decent hotel - make it clear in the booking it’s a free continental or just strike out the free breakfast. It’s not hard. Clarity is everything ✅

Regarding breakfast, we have informed our booking partners of our continental offering. We are sorry that this was not displayed more clearly for you at the time of booking. Cooked items remain available for a small supplementary charge should guests wish to upgrade.
On parking, the charge is openly displayed across our website, in the car park, on online travel agent pages and at reception.

Great experience
At check in we were upgraded to a bigger room facing the castle, floor to ceiling windows with plenty of space. Great service from the staff, room was roomy and clean.
Having read reviews the main bone of contention appears to be around breakfast offerings. We didn't book a rate with breakfast, there is a city centre on your door stop with plenty on offer.
Would happily return.
