Affordable, Comfortable & Excellent Location!!

I travel often and usually stay at Marriott properties.
I decided to stay at Hotel Antares due to its location, close to metro and Marienplatz and authentic feel.
It was an amazing stay! Staff was great and the daily breakfast was fresh, delicious with great variety!
I will be making Hotel Antares my place to stay in Munich!

Poor Customer Service

Positive Notes: Recently refurbished rooms, great location. I've heard the breakfast is good.
Downside: Unclear cancellation policy. I booked a room and tried to modify the reservation within 24 hours when I learned there was no A/C and Munich was in a heat wave. I was still penalized with an 80% fee for the one night I tried to take off the reservation despite communication with the management more than 72 hours in advance. When I checked in, I asked to be moved to the quiet side of the building - but was advised that the side I was on was cooler. I was also told that it was a "quiet" city and I shouldn't have issues with the windows open. Unfortunately, the bar right below us was showing a World Cup game and it was excessively loud until at least 1am. When I complained, I was offered a voucher.
Bottom line: book with care.

I recommend this hotel in Munich.

Highly recommended. the hotel staff very polite and friendly, always with a smile and willing to make your stay pleasant. Very good breakfast, varied and all of good quality and with a careful presentation. The whole hotel is very clean. The location is also great, and a street without noise, anyway is that the noise is impressive, in Spain we are too loud, in general. The only thing that the room was not very large, there were 4, but especially the bathroom, too small. We were just going to shower and sleep anyway. In short, highly recommended. A pleasant experience.

Brilliant staff and great location.

I'll get the negativity out of the way at the start. The decor in the rooms is a bit dated, and when we stayed, the weather was very hot, so no air con was not great, but there was a fan provided which helped. But that is it for the negativity.
We weren't too worried about the decor as there is so much to do in Munich, we weren't in our room except to sleep. They were absolutely spotless too, everywhere in the hotel is very clean. I thought it was good too that we were asked at the start how often we wanted to room to be cleaned. There is no need for a daily clean, and if you need fresh towels, toilet roll etc, just ask at reception and they'll be up at your toom in a couple of minutes.
Hotel Antares may not be 5 star, but the staff are as good, if not better than the staff in some 5 star hotels that I have stayed in. They really are fantastic. Friendly, helpful, and professional.
We ate breakfast at the hotel every morning, and it was superb. A really good range of options, cooked meats, cold meats, fruit, cereal, and a great range of breads and pastries. Coffee was good too.
Hotel Antares is in a great location. Walking distance to the subway, parks, and many attractions. It is on the edge of the university district, so it isn't full of tourists, and there is a great vibe. Loads of wonderful places to eat and drink. Everywhere we tried was very reasonable in price, and the food was excellent.
So, the most important question, would I stay there again? Absolutely. The important things like great staff, good location, and cleanliness will always outweigh how the room is decorated.

Thank you very much for your fair review! And the best answer we could provide you is that we will get the negative aspect out of the way very soon: All rooms will be completely renovated and redesigned at the beginning of 2026. So if you will come back from next year on, you won’t recognise them again.
The only thing that will not change is no air con. In Germany it is still just needed a few weeks in the year. Further the installation in a existing building is not reasonable with respect to the expense and our sustainability concept. Therefore we are not a 5* or 4* hotel, but stay small, beautiful and try hard to be very good for what we are ... ;-)

The full package!

Lovely and helpful front desk and breakfast staff. A quiet and intimate hotel with an amazing and diverse breakfast. Very clean and comfortable with a proper adjustable/handheld shower and deep bathtub ( a favourite trip indulgence after long days of walking). Comfortable beds and bedding . They also kindly took possession of our delayed baggage and had it waiting in our room when we got back from sightseeing. The location is great, close to both the tourist sights and university.
